I find it hilarious that ESPN were using the AP rankings until Oregon won, and then yesterday they decided to use the BCS rankings instead, so now they are saying that #1 lost again.

so if Auburn does pass everyone this week and becomes #1 in the BCS poll, will ESPN use the AP rankings to frame their #1 team being beaten for the 4th straight week story?

I've seen all channels do this just to use the highest ranking possible to promote the matchup.

Is there any chance Alabama does NOT repeat?

Yeah, I think it's really likely that Bama doesn't make it to bowl season without a second loss.

Is there any chance Alabama does NOT repeat? They'll beat LSU. They'll win at home vs. Auburn. The East is no contest. Oregon's gonna lose to either USC or Oregon St. Michigan St. is going to lose to Iowa. Mizzou is going to lose to Nebraska next week. Boise and TCU won't get the respect.

Doubt it. USC is coached by an idiot and in a shootout, I'm taking Oregon over Oregon State.

lol if that's all what needs to happen then yeah, I'd say there's a chance.

They probably don't even need Oregon to lose. If Alabama wins out, they only need 2 of Oregon, Michigan St, and Missouri to lose.

ESPN started doing that right when the BCS rankings came out. I don't think it's just to frame that No. 1 lost again because Oregon was listed as No. 2 on Thursday on their telecast.

I don't know why I care, but Missouri should not be ranked behind Michigan State.

depending on which site you look at they have similar SOS and had very similar games against a common opponent(Illinois). I think they only thing that clearly is in Missouri's favor is they had a more impressive game this past weekend, but until this weekend I think MSU was deservedly a higher ranked team.

My guess is it has to do with ESPN being the ones who release the rankings now.

I don't really care which rankings they use, but it just seemed suspicious to look at their scoreboard to see that Oregon won the other night, and then look on Saturday to see that "#1 Oklahoma" lost, with a headline something to the effect of "#1 goes down again". They just need to decide which ranking they're gonna use and stick with it.

Eh...I guess they don't need to do anything. It doesn't really matter. I just was amused by the framing.

ESPN has been switching from the AP to the BCS rankings on the bottom line once they're released for like 4 years now.

But the BCS rankings were released last week. I'm saying they had Oregon listed as number 1 for it's game on Thursday. And then had Oklahoma listed as number 1 on Saturday.

I'm fairly sure Oregon was listed as #2 on Thursday

Well, I didn't take a screenshot, so I can't prove it.

For the 10 minutes I could stomach the game, Oregon was ranked #2 on Thursday.
