That wasn't interference on the Yankee fan, the ump got the call right. If the fielder has to go reach out of the field of play for a ball, it's not interference.

But thanks to the freaking basketball announcer for letting us know Bartman's place in history will stand a couple innings later.

Well I was talking about the HR that people had a page long freak out about in this thread.

I'm more annoyed that the Rangers might clinch their first trip to the World Series while I'm sitting at work. I think it's really dumb to have weekend afternoon LCS games. Day playoff games don't feel like playoff games. I think that's why I took Josh Beckett shutting us down in 2003 game 5 so well. It didn't feel like it was a game to get us into the World Series.

The postseason as a whole stretches on too long, and the scheduling times are ridiculous. Many of the East Coast games (or at least ones that will draw mostly from an "eastern" audience) starting as late as they do is ridiculous. Games simply cannot be ending around or after midnight on weekdays.

You sound like an old man. So what if a game ends at 12?

It's one of the main things killing the ratings year after year, especially of the WS itself. It's fantastic that you want to stay up until 1 watching these games, but too many people don't and the generally declining viewership numbers seem to back that up. Prime time WS generally don't seem to be a good idea. I'm not saying make air them weekday afternoons, but shoot for something like 6 PM instead of 8 PM.

It's only a month, which is a lot less than basketball and hockey and the same as football. It's no different than NCAA basketball. Games are being played nearly every day. They put them out there on days that are best for ratings. Starting a game around 8:15 eastern isn't that big of a deal unless you are talking about epic Red Sox/Yankees games, but people still watch those. I still think they should go to that play-in format with 2 wild cards and the 1 seeds getting a bigger benefit. We have had only one knockout games in these playoffs so far which is where all the excitement is. But given the 8 team format I don't think they could do it better.

I know, and I was talking about the other discussed potential fan interference situation.

Earlier would be better. Don't argue with me on this; I will destroy you.

Do you work for FOX or TBS? Why do you care about ratings? It's not like if they get lower ratings, or even much lower ratings, that they won't televise those games. Hell, they televise girls volleyball and billiards on TV. So how does lower ratings affect you as a fan?

Maybe a little earlier. But if you start at 6 half the country is still at work or commuting as the game starts. Even if you go to 745 that is 445 out west. 8pm is not that late. East coasters are used to a primetime TV schedule that lasts through 11pm and midnight is not that late. It's really just the Red Sox/Yankees 5 hour abortions that suck the life out of watching them.

You sound like an old man. So what if a game ends at midnight? If you really want to watch the game a person can stay up a little later if they normally go to bed earlier than that. Big deal.

Judging by the ratings, there's not enough people that want to watch the games that bad.

If they would eliminate just a quarter of the commercials the game would end an hour earlier. Would love to see some big advertiser sponsor an hours worth and the old say " This hour is brought to you buy........."

I am showing my age.

The principal has given us permission to turn it on in class today.

At least the postseason doesn't drag on for 2 months like the NBA postseason does. That gets a little ridiculous. I think it's just the right length.

Although the World Series should never, ever be scheduled into November, unless in an extreme circumstance like 2001.

You think there are 4 hours of commercials in each game? Interesting.

The perception to most of us is four hours. I took a shower, brushed my teeth and shaved before a set of commercials ended.

I think there's going to be a lot of late arrivals and maybe no-shows to today's game. I know a few people who haven't even left yet. And another guy was planning on selling his tickets and the secondary market was dead.

So some lunatic tried to kill ARod during last night's game:

Three uniformed NYPD officers, along with several stadium security guards, collared Grim LeRogue before he could reach Rodriguez in the top of the fifth inning. LeRogue, 33, was trying to confront A-Rod about his relationship with Cameron Diaz.

From the N.Y. Daily News:

Tucked in LeRogue's pocket, police found a picture of Alex Rodriguez with his face crossed out and a drawing of a small gun pointed at his head, a source said. Etched on the photo were the words, "You gotta go, buddy."

"He was absolutely out of his [expletive] mind," said the source, adding that LeRogue was rambling the entire time he was in custody.
