Haha it gets even better.

So he opted instead to play for the Omaha Nighthawks. But after only two games, the Omaha Nighthawks have decided not to have Grant play for them.

Grant was removed from the the team's active roster on Monday.

The guy couldnt even stick on a UFL roster?

Is this all some horrible prank? Since when did the Cubs become a NFL franchise?

This move pisses me off so much. Why in the hell couldn't we keep Alex Brown? Because the Bears couldn't afford Peppers and Brown. Fine, Peppers is great...but why not just cut Anderson in the offseason? GSDGSDRHRJS

Has a 3-1 team ever been considered "fun bad"?

I don't know, but I can't remember a team go from riding high on a 3-0 start to spontaneous combustion in about 48 hours.

I'd like to know what the hell is going on over there.

I bet raw is right; Bears go DL in the first round this year. Especially once they release Tommie Harris.

If you & raw are right I might have to kill a few puppies. I don't think I can take Angelo's insane 300-lb elephant routine on draft day again.

at this rate tommie harris could be gone by tomorrow

Could a signing of someone like Corey Simon be around the corner?

FO is not kind to the Bears this week. Dropped to 27th in DVOA overall, offensive line 32nd against the pass, 27th against the run, defensive line 32nd against the pass, 3rd against the run, Cutler's statistics took a dive, only Knox is listed above average, and the offense dropped from above average to 22nd.

It keeps getting better.

The NFL is looking into the possibility that newly signed Bears DE Charles Grant still faces discipline under the leagues' personal conduct policy.

Grant pleaded no contest to charges of involuntary manslaughter after a 2008 nightclub incident in which a woman was shot to death. If Grant ends up suspended after the Bears released Mark Anderson, they're really going to regret cutting Alex Brown loose.

As if the Panthers don't have enough problems at WR with Steve Smith likely to miss the game, now they've released Dwayne Jarrett following his second DWI arrest in less than three years.

Jarrett being released isn't a problem - it allows someone who actually might have a shot in hell of being good onto the roster (say, Armanti Edwards).

I actually really like this David Gettis kid, though, and probably because he spent most of the off-season on the 2nd team with Clausen, the two seem to have something of a rapport on the field.

Well of course. What, did they think the league was just going to let him skate by?

This is sounding so stupid.

I was beginning to think the only reason they signed him was to highlight the starcaps case that is hanging over those Vikings players. This is nuts.

The Bears return to work Wednesday morning at Halas Hall in preparation for Sunday's game at Carolina, and it will be interesting to gauge the reaction in the locker room to the release of Mark Anderson on Tuesday afternoon.

The private reaction by multiple Bears players as the news broke was unified.

"What?"

That's how they replied via text messages.

Doesn't really justify the signing, but I heard on the Score yesterday that the only reason Grant was "released" from his UFL team is because him signing with an NFL team was imminent, and this was the quickest way to get him eligable to sign with an NFL team coming from the UFL. So it was a gentleman's agreement with him and his old team that got him released.

Also, Grant was actually in route to Nashville to sign with the Titans when he heard the Bears were interested. He determined that the Bears gave him a better shot to play so he decided to sign with us instead.

"We did a lot of work on Charles in terms of game tape in the preseason and in the past, even as recently as his game from the UFL last Saturday,'' Angelo said. "We feel that he's a better fit than Mark was in terms of the left-end position. He also has the ability to play down inside as a three-technique. We like his versatility, his experience speaks for itself, and he was an upgrade."

Grant, 32, said his age should not even come up in conversation. He took the place of 27-year-old Mark Anderson on the roster after the Bears surprisingly terminated Anderson's contract Tuesday.

"Age doesn't have anything to do with," Grant said. "How old are you? If you know how to play this game, you know how to play the game.

"How old was Michael Strahan? When he retired, he had one of his best years. I know the game. I'm just humbled to be back in the NFL. The NFL has given me everything I've wanted, except going to a Pro Bowl."

Of course he's going to say that.

Lots of older players are going to say that. I guess we're going to find out if it's true in his case, whether we want to or not.
