Of the many times I have been embarrassed to be a Cub fan, this season was easily the worst for me. Fortunately it came to a merciful end yesterday. On to football where the Bears are 3-oh no......Cutler is hurt. Shoot me.

This season sucked badly, but for some reason I didn't really care most of the season and then when I started watching a little bit in August and September, they played a bit better.

I think the season could have been a lot worse.

Born in '72 for what it's worth

The Zambrano debacle may have been the pinnacle for me

Losing to the Pirates

Losing to the WSox

The pen

Lee and Aram falling apart

Hendry, Lou and a new owner that apparently doesn't care as much about building from within as he lead everyone to believe

2006 was bad and so was 2005 for me, but this was much worse in my opinion

There was a time when it looked like both the Cardinals and WSox were going to make the playoffs. At least they both tanked.

Does this refer to Zambrano's verbal confrontation with DLee, or the front office and management's mishandling of him all season long?

i'm not saying this was the worst season of all-time or anything, but . . .

which of the nine extra wins compared to 2006 was your favorite? which of the 1.5 games closer in the standings compared to 2006? which of the three pythag wins better than 2006?

i mean, i guess this team was better, but it wasn't a ton better, and i don't really think it's all that unreasonable if somebody wants to say they hated this season more than that one.

It was a sucky season...must it be compared to others?

Fans of other teams argue which WS team was better. We're reduced to this. sad.

I'd prefer to not be lumped in with the Only the Cubs crowd, thank you very much

Yeah this is dumb. I'd still rather be a fan of us then about 25 other teams in baseball.

i was born in 1985, my first real season as a fan was 1995. watched games and stuff before that, but didn't watch everyday and have the ups and downs. so that's your context here.

IT WOULD DEFINITELY BE MORE FUN TO BE A FAN OF:

yankees

red sox

rays

white sox

angels

phillies

braves

marlins

cardinals

diamondbacks

IT WOULD PROBABLY BE MORE FUN TO BE A FAN OF:

tigers

indians

twins

a's

mets

giants

rockies

WE ARE ABOUT THE SAME AS:

rangers

mariners

padres

dodgers

astros

WE HAVE IT BETTER THAN:

blue jays

orioles

royals

nats/expos

reds

brewers

pirates

Yes, this season sucked, but expectations weren't very high going into the season anyway. The worst seasons for me are when they put together a suck-fest like this when expectations are a division title and a playoff run. Edited by erik316wttn

I'm sorry, I know some of those teams listed had a long run of ineptitude, but any franchise that has won a WS since 1990, I cannot say it's worse to be a fan of them than the Cubs.

My GF is a Reds fan (sorta) and she always tells me about how happy her family was when they were in the WS in 1990. I walk through their house and they have framed newspapers from the morning after. I tell her about that one time Aramis hit 2 HRs and we got to within 1 game of the World Series. And then she asks me what happened after. I dunno I might rather have a World Series title followed by 20 years of mostly irrelevance than no World Series title in a 20 year period with sporatic relevance, even if that team was easily more popular during that time span.

Sixty Five (65) baseball seasons have come and gone since the CUBS last appeared in the World Series. Over that span of time the CUBS have won a hair more than 47% of their games. Now, I'm certainly not suggesting that this is good or acceptable for a major market franchise, in fact, it is the worst record of any of the 16 original franchises. The nearest competitor for worst record is Pittsburgh at 47.9%, and they had 10 playoff appearances and 3 World Series wins during that span !!! I'm only pointing out that this 47% figure is the average of what has clearly been the worst period in franchise history. The 2010 season, 75-87 0.463, is pretty close to that average. Or, to put it another way, out of the 65 seasons in this span, the CUBS have put up a record 75-87 (0.463) three different times, and have had 37 seasons with a better record (including their 6 playoff appearances) and 26 seasons with a worse record.

It would be futile to argue with the assertion that this season sucked. It did. But to suggest that this was the most embarrassing season ever, well... that just ignores all historical perspective.

Ah, we definetly are true fans, as pathetic as we sound

Honestly Fred, the 1985 season may not have had that bad of a record, but with the start that team had and the expectations from the previous season that was the most miserable season I can remember
