Yeah. I don't think they're being too brash though.

I mean, the man is still collecting his paycheck after all. He's not in there right now, true, but he could be if he works hard and shows he's up to it.

I think Devin will be back on the field at some point in the near future and we'll all forget about this.

earl bennett has barely had a pulse on the football field over the last couple of games, so i assume aromashadu will get another chance to prove himself.

Mike Martz on Earl Bennett:

“He’s so good in the slot,” Martz said Thursday. “He does so many good things. He does a great job in those inside routes. He really does so many things for us. I’m excited. I’m really pleased. I thought he was a good player, but he’s even better than I thought. He’s really done a remarkable job.”

Ok, Aromashodu isn't great in the slot. Not many 6'2" WRs are. But what happened to Hester learning all the positions? And the Az Hakim comparisons? Why can't Aromashodu play outside w/ Hester in the slot?

Because Hester is afraid to get hit.

A guy who stands still watching the ball in the air come to him as 10 guys (minus the punter) are running toward him at full speed is afraid to get hit?

Even if that is true, why does Hester being afraid to get hit mean Aromashodu doesn't play? Wasn't the issue with Aromashodu that he had some drops in the slot after taking a couple hits in the middle?

You can't possibly believe Devin A. is being benched because of some drops in the first game.

It's obvious he's not getting along with the coaches and that they don't care for his attitude.

Hester played DB in college. Maybe he stuck enough guys coming across the middle in his day to not feel all that comfortable crossing the middle on offense.

You clearly didn't see many Hester games at the U did you? He was Deion Sanders like in his willingness to stick his nose in to make a tackle.

Chris Williams, Major Wright out for Sunday

Did I hear Chris Harris out too?

Idonije, Harris, Garza all probable

I'm OK with CW being out. The line is borked anyway; it's all an exercise in compensating for the overall suckage. Smoke & mirrors.

Major Wright is beginning to make me sad. He might be one of those guys who you just never get to evaluate because he can't stay on the field.

Aromoshadu said that "coaches make mistakes too" today. That was probably the worst thing he could have said today to help his situation. The guy has some potential, is tall, and Jay likes to throw him, but he has to just shut up, learn what Martz wants him to learn, and shut up some more.

I don't think he said that in terms of he being benched was a mistake byt he coaches. I think he was saying that if he did make mistakes, that the coaching staff should be understanding as they are human too.

The coaching staff should not be understanding for making a good decision in benching him. That's their job. It is not a player's responsibility to publicly declare that "coaches make mistakes too."

Especially as a WR, how many times have we seen Hester cut towards the sidelines when he might have been able to break it big with a cut back inside? It's not a ton, but I know we've talked about it on here before.

The Atlanta game from last year when he could've housed it but ran the risk of being blindsided in the open fielded and he made an unnecessary cut and got tackled. I don't remember any others but that one reallllllly stood out as a guy who was afraid of getting creamed.

Hester is not in the slot because Lovie and/or the organization is cramming Hester as a starting WR down Martz's throat. When Martz first got hired, he talked about how great Hester would be if utilized differently (e.g. the slot, the Hakim role) than he had been. Hester talked about playing the slot and the time off the field allowing him to put more of an emphasis on returns again...

...until Lovie stepped in and Martz's tune changed entirely shortly thereafter.

It's all about Hester's salary.

thinking back on that, yeah it makes sense. i figured he just misjudged the pursuit. i thought it was weird at the time because his instincts in those situations are usually very good.

If I remember correctly, UMFan broke the play down like the Zapruder film to show how much he dodged any contact despite having an open field right in front of him.

The Giants are really banged up. Kiwanuka (who already has 4 sacks) is suddenly out for tomorrow, while Umenyiora is questionable with a knee injury. They also have starters from their OL and LB positions out. Looks like Manningham will play though.

You never want to rely on injuries for a win but with maybe two of their DEs out as well as a starting LB, you have to like Cutler's chances as he should have more time to throw than he's had the past two weeks. Double-team Tuck and we should be good. Of course I probably just jinxed our OL.

I feel like this is a trap game. On the road, short week against a team that was supposed to be competitive with its back against the wall at 1-2. I think we should have the edge, but it wouldn't surprise me at all for this to be the game we lose before the halfway mark.
