The train kept a rollin' all night long....

3-0, not much more you can say. I think consensus had them 1-2 by now, optimists hoped for 2-1. It may not look pretty, but they are 3-0 and have obviously clinched a winning record for the first quarter of the season, for whatever that is worth. This week's game was considered by most to be a sure loss, I've thought of it as a very winnable one, since I never got the Giants love. And now that Big Blue looks as sloppy, stupid and dysfunctional as they have, I'd go as far as saying it is a game the Bears absolutely should win. NYG were 3 point favorites before the MNF game, but it's off the board now. The Bears have covered 2 weeks in a row now, and were one Aromashadu 2 point catch away from covering in week 1. I'm guessing Vegas is going to adjust that to account for what may be a flood of Bears hype coming soon.

The Bears remain tough against the run but beatable through the air. At least they have done a good job limiting big plays, even if they haven't gotten to the QB enough. Eli is not Aaron Rodgers. He's going to screw up if you give him the chance, and I think the Bears will give him every chance, as long as the banged up Briggs and Peppers are healthy enough to play. Cutler has to have a better game this week. It's tough to judge based on all the horrible and blatant penalties GB took that coincided with would be and could be INTs, but Cutler probably made 4-5 bad decisions out there. Unfortunately he remains a one man offense, as the line was better but still weak, the running game remains non existent and the receivers are a little hit or miss.

The Giants are a 4-3. Bears haven't seen that since the Lions game. I'm interested to see how the Martz offense does against a 4-3 now that they've gotten more comfortable in the system.

Eli might be the worst quarterback we've seen since the Lions game. Certainly the most mistake prone.

I'm excited to get this one done with so we can get back to Sunday afternoon games. Prime time games suck.

I actually really like Sunday night games much more than Monday night.

Anyway, this games look like a game the Bears should win at this point. I hope they don't let up after two big wins.

Well yeah...I'll agree with that. I still prefer a noon game though.

Who's better than the Bears in the NFC right now? New Orleans, maybe Atlanta, maybe Philly, and maybe Green Bay (despite last night)? I was just thinking that and I couldn't really come up with anyone else, despite this team still having some glaring weaknesses.

New Orleans is not that good. Their defense hasn't been nearly as good as the reputation they had last season, and their offense has been shaky. This could be a 2007/08 Saints team moreso than 09. Atlanta is a nice team, Philly is dangerous but still a little questionable, and Green Bay is really talented but apparently incredibly stupid. I'm not sure there is a best team in the NFC right now. I think the Bears offense can keep getting better the longer Cutler and Martz work together. I don't think they are the best, but I think they have as good a chance as anybody if they progress as they should.

Sunday night might be worse if only because I'll inevitably be drunk by the time kickoff comes around and ready for bed. At least MNF keeps me sober in the office all day.

I'm really pissed this is a night game and especially pissed that it's this specific weekend, which is the only one I couldn't attend when the schedule came out.

See I like Sunday night specifically because I am a little liqoured up when the game starts. Of course (as you mentioned) that can sometimes lead to a little head-nodding in the second half of a not-so-thrilling game.

the packers have major issues with their offensive line, which is even worse than ours.

their defense is fantastic, though.

We need to get Cutler outside the pocket a bit more and get him some comfortable quick hitters or a good screen game going...too much backpedaling on deep drops last night leading to throws off his heels.

I'm thrilled we are 3-0, but I still see a lot of issues with this team. As poor as the Vikings have looked in a couple of games, I'm still worried that they'll get it together and be a better team in the long run.

Anybody know any good Giants message boards? The ones I see on google don't seem to be super active...

I think the one on the Giants official website is actually fairly decent.

Revised schedule prediction:

Team Prediction (Preseason Prediction)

1 Detroit W (W)

2 @ Dallas W (L)

3 Green Bay W (L)

4 @ New York W (L)

5 @ Carolina W (L)

6 Seattle W (W)

7 Washingtin L (W)

8 BYE

9 @ Buffalo W (W)

10 Minnesota L (L)

11 @ Miami W (W)

12 Philadelphia L (L)

13 @ Detroit W (W)

14 New England W (L)

15 @ Minnesota L (L)

16 New York W (L)

17 @ Green Bay L (L)

Final Record 11-5 (Preseason 6-10)

Maybe that seems too ambitious. I tried to not look at it like a homer but the way the season is shaping up with regards to how good teams have been so far, the schedule looks slightly easier than earlier on. Everyone said before that 3 of the first 4 and last 4 were extremely tough. Well we've made it through the first 4 at 3-1 at worst. That alone should change people's predictions, because I would be stunned to see proof of anyone predicting the Bears to beat both Dallas and GB when the schedule came out. We'll probably lose a game that we should win, and we could in fact win another game that we shouldn't, so that evens out.

I think we lose one of the next two road games but win the rest before the bye to be 6-1 at the bye.

I think we'll split with Minnesota, beat Buffalo and Detroit, split with the Pats/Jets, lose at Green Bay and I have @Miami and Philly as tossups. That would put us at 10-4 not counting Miami and Philly. 10-6/11-5 looks possible at this point.

I'll say it. I'm gonna be disappointed if this team isn't 7-1 at the midway point.

Yeah, they really should be. I just said I think we'll split the next two road games but I'm feeling good about beating the Giants and I don't know how we could lose to Carolina. I dunno what to think at this point.

Wins over New England and the Jets? I realize they're both at Soldier Field, but I would be pleasantly surprised to see us win both of those.

Why was Washington a win before but not now?

Posted

I knew someone would call me out on that. The only reason is because A) I thought Washington would be awful this year, and although they did in fact look awful last week, they were better than I thought the 2 prior weeks and while I don't think they are better than the Bears B) I just could not predict the Bears starting the season 7-0. So if they don't lose that one, they'll probably lose to the Giants or the Seahawks.

I do have the Bears beating NE and the Jets. NE mostly because their defense is pretty bad, and because it will likely be really cold for that one, and not that I am a big fan of Bears weather, especially against a team that also plays in the cold and succeeds there, but I think the cold will slow the Pats passing attack enough for the Bears to have success.

The Jets were just a complete gut feeling. I don't the gist that they are a great team. They are definitely good though.

Also, I saw this today and thought it was interesting. Can anyone guess how many Bears currently on the 53 man roster, were also on the roster in 2006?

A lot actually. I would guess 16-18
