The Chiefs could go to the playoffs if they let Charles be the feature back. Too bad it'll probably take them half the year to fully comprehend Jones' mediocrity.

I wouldn't go that far, but I don't think 8-8 would shock me.

The only reason I say that is because their division is garbage.

True, but there are too many other good teams that will grab the Wild Card sports don't you think?

Well, if we're talking about the Chiefs overachieving, I don't think them stealing the division with 8 wins is that far out of the realm of possibility.

Plus, look at their schedule. They play the AFC South, and outside of that there's about 12 winnable games.

The schedule is the only reason I thought the Raiders had an outside chance at the playoffs if they played well. The AFC West stinks and that division plays the NFC West, which also stinks, so that makes up 10 of the games right there.

What a crappy week of football. Half the teams in the league threw for less than 200 yards. And of the 16 who passed for over 200, 4 of them threw multiple INTs. Very few entertaining games this weekend, and a lot of generally crappy play.

But hey, the Bears threw for 350+ and only had 1 pick.

Sanchez is the reason that they won't be a super bowl team I think. The rest of the team is great. Especially Shonn Greene:)

Question. Did he fumble this much while he played at Iowa?

He only really played one year at Iowa full time (he was a back up the first couple of years an played mostly in garbage time) but I don't remember him fumbling often. ESPN said he didn't fumble but I don't know if they just don't keep that stats on that or if it's actually true but now he definitely has issues with it.

what happened to albert young at iowa? he really looked like he was going to be a star there, and then tailed off his last two years. i'm just curious because he went to my high school.

As Ryno mentioned the knee injuries zapped some of his explosiveness. He still had a pretty nice career but was also the victim of circumstance. In '05 he was a stud and led the Big Ten in rushing, then he was stuck playing on the two worst Iowa teams of the decade in his last two years. It's awesome that he's been able to stick in the NFL though.

To the Shonn Greene fumbling question, I only remember one during his junior year at Iowa and that was on a hit where he was knocked out of the game (kind of helmet to helmet ish) against Northwestern.

At least the Chiefs game was one of the few entertaining games so far. Losing my fantasy matchup by 1 point because Rivers couldn't get two more yards or the touchdown was a fitting end to the weekend.

Lions fans very positive and angry.

Why is Schwartz' approval rating that high? They were outgained by 300 yards and only stayed in the game because the Bears put the ball on the ground a billion times. Maybe voters liked the goal-line stand, I don't know. Even if CJ holds onto that ball and they win, it wouldn't have been because they played well.

Because the Lions being close to winning is better than they've had for a long time. It's similar to the reasoning some on here use to defend Hendry - he's been better than the rest of the GMs the Cubs have had in a really long time.

That said, I like a lot of what Schwartz/Mayhew are doing in Detroit. That's not a quick fix, but I think they're slowly moving in the right direction.

well look at the last draft, where he and Mayhew procured about 17 immediate starters all of whom were likely upgrades over the Millen-regime crap leftovers they inherited and it's hard to complain.

this is the first time since the Barry era the mgmt has had a focused plan that wasn't stupid ("Az Hakim is a play. MAKER.", Mariucci's stupid WCO fixation and Shawn Bryson, Marinelli's idiotic ramblings about pad level and sharp will, etc. i could probably go on for hours).

Yeah, I've been really impressed with their drafts. They've found good, quality players and seem to be developing them well. Free agency has been solid too, I think. They haven't greatly overpaid anybody and are finding pretty good deals on veterans.

I've liked Stafford more than most as well.

Looks like I chose a great week to be away from my couch. The sunday ticket app on my iphone was fun though.

I forgot to update the OS on my iphone so I couldn't update the app! My bad, I should have known better. I'm all set for this weekend though.

Of the three rookie QBs last year that got significant starting time, I liked Stafford the most, followed by Freeman and Sanchez.

I agree. I also like Stafford better than anybody drafted this year. I still like the upside of Freeman and think he could be the second best of this draft and last. He has some developing to do, though.
