Well the offense did suck the entire pre-season. But yes, JJ is an overreactor.

 

Most teams in the NFL struggle on offense in Week 1. The first week of the season usually holds some of the ugliest games of the year.

For those that think preseason means anything. Another stat to show how meaningless the records are.

 

Teams that had an above .500 record in the preseason went 2-7 in week 1

Teams that had a .500 or worse record in the preseason went 12-7 in week 1

Why is Schwartz' approval rating that high? They were outgained by 300 yards and only stayed in the game because the Bears put the ball on the ground a billion times. Maybe voters liked the goal-line stand, I don't know. Even if CJ holds onto that ball and they win, it wouldn't have been because they played well.

Because the Lions being close to winning is better than they've had for a long time. It's similar to the reasoning some on here use to defend Hendry - he's been better than the rest of the GMs the Cubs have had in a really long time.

 

That said, I like a lot of what Schwartz/Mayhew are doing in Detroit. That's not a quick fix, but I think they're slowly moving in the right direction.

Sorry for the injury, but Grant's not that critical a piece. They can get similar production from alot of guys with defenses scrambling to try to stop the many airborne weapons on that team.
