What the hell was that in the USC-Hawaii game?

a) It was a touchdown.

b) The ref says it's a touchdown on the replay but apparently he didn't mean it.

He was signaling how short the ball was of the end zone. Pretty stupid of him.

Anyway, this vanilla defensive scheme isn't working. Ronde, Derrick, and Warren aren't playing for you anymore Monte. Fix your [expletive]. Also, tackle.

Yes. Great idea doing that with the microphone not working.

Either way, that was clearly a touchdown.

Announcers really need to quit pretending that there needs to be indisputable evidence to overturn a call. I think every single college football team has been screwed by now by a replay official applying very disputable evidence to overturn a call.

I thought the sanctions would allow me to just enjoy the game for its own sake but nope, still freaking out over every negative play.

I guess it would take years of sustained Zookdom to break my will.

That was a great interview with Kiffin at the half there. "They didn't figure anything out." LOL.

This is literally like having Charlie Weis as your head coach. When you don't tackle in the offseason (or otherwise teach fundamentals) your decided schematic advantage goes out the window.

Well, Lane Kiffin clearly earned his way to the top. I can't think of a more deserving person to be coach of Southern Cal.

Nice cheap shot, USC.

They called that a touchdown?

Cheap shot, lol. You're priceless.

Not every time a quarterback gets drilled is a cheap shot, Raisin. It's a contact sport. He literally ducked his head at the last second before he got plowed.

Lane going for two nearly every time and showing such weird formations on the conversion/PAT attempts was really strange. I'm not exactly sure what he was going for with those.

And Spongeworthy, I don't know how it'll work at USC, but Monte's defense at Tennessee was sketchy against the spread type offenses but completely shut down the pro-style offenses. Hawaii fits the mold of an offense his defense struggles with.

It's not scheme. Or mostly not scheme. It's not being able to tackle or cover on the back end. The tackling was atrocious tonight.

That's what happens when you don't hit all summer because your depth is gone to [expletive] and probably what I should be looking forward to until the sanctions are behind the program.

Yeah, I saw all the missed tackles and penalties. That's a little weird because Kiffin's Vols last year seemed quite fundamentally sound. We didn't do many great things, but the fundamentals were there for the most part. And that team had practically no depth at all either.

Pitt/Utah was a nice way to kick off the college season.

Pitt's style may be boring, but they get into such close-cut games because of it that it somehow becomes entertaining fare anyway.

Yeah it was clearly a touchdown and that was the worst possible signal the ref could have made. I'm pretty sure no official has ever indicated a ball was that short by using that gesture.

I think Kiffin just wants to be like a bad guy in pro wrestling. I refuse to believe that anyone could be such a prick/douche naturally. Especially when he has a dad who seems completely opposite.

I really don't remember him being like that with the Raiders either. Seemed like this came out more once he went to Tennessee. My hatred for Al Davis might have masked Kiffin though.

Jeremiah Masoli has been cleared and can play immediately.

Haha, the NCAA has no idea what they are doing half of the time. Nothing against the decision itself, just them making a huge decision like that then retracting a couple of days later 1 day before the season opener.
