i don't know how they can put kiprusoff in tier 2 and luongo in tier 3. kiprusoff has sucked pretty hard in 2 of the last 3 seasons.

I think it's actually a scale ranking the goalies by how much the Blackhawks own them. The higher the tier the more we own them.

Luongo is in Tier -90000

lebrun says versteeg has been traded to toronto. from his twitter-

Leafs acquire Versteeg from Chicago

Leafs get Versteeg and the rights to winger Bill Sweatt in exchange for forwards Viktor Stalberg, Chris DiDomenico and Philippe Paradis

anybody know anything about those players?

anyways, i'm thrilled if this means we get to keep laddy.

BTW, it was posted on HFboards today that someone got the Sun-Times beat reporter to respond to him and say that Bowman said the only bonus cap hit is the $1.3 million for Toews for the Conn Smythe, not the total of $4 million and change that had been reported.

That and the Versteeg trade are very good moves.

Versteeg and Byfuglien were nice players, especially when they were cheaper, but they are overrated and not worth tying up precious cap space on.

Sweatt was a guy we had already decided wasn't worth the cost of signing him.

Stalberg is the Leaf's No. 5 prospect, scouting report here:

http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/viktor_stalberg

DiDiadsgasilhf was No. 12

http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/chris_didomenico

Paradis No. 13

http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/philippe_paradis

These guys are all overrated because they are Toronto prospects, but Stalberg is a nice get.

HockeysFuture rating of Stalberg would put him tied with Olson and Beach for the best in the organization.

how many more guys do you think we're going to lose?

As far as I can tell, that should be it, unless someone goes nuts on an offer sheet for one of our RFAs. I think we can even afford to keep Ladd.

I'm going to go ahead and say it: Bowman is amazing. He correctly identified the right two guys to move, and he got way more for them than I expected.

If the reported cap numbers are correct, we shouldn't need to lose any more guys. We lost a sixth defenseman, made a slight downgrade at 4th line center, and lost a pair of second-rate wingers, and got back a ton of organizational depth.

This team will be right back in the thick of it next year.

This would end up being an amazing offseason (considering what we were prepared for) if this is it. I was just concerned about keeping Sharp and Hjalmarsson, and now we might not even end up losing Ladd? Awesome

Red Wings fans must be lovin this

At this point, the only drama is who ends up being the starting goaltender next season (i.e. if someone offers Niemi upwards of 3 mil).

It will be nice to not have Versteeg holding onto the puck way too long and turning it over next year.

That said he did have one of my favorite goals of the playoffs in Game 2 against Vancouver.

Wings fans still seem to think we're gonna lose significant guys

honestly, i'd rather have versteeg than ladd. i don't think it's a huge difference, but i think versteeg is a more dynamic and creative player and will continue to improve.

Yeah, but Wings fans are not thinking straight. They are basing their opinions on the hope the Hawks return to faiure, which they won't.

i dont think you give enough credit to ladd.

i don't think versteeg really brings anything to the table. his dynamics usually lead to him turning the puck over. ladd is a really solid 2-way forward

also, ladd is a [expletive] warrior, and hockey is a sport where stuff like that actually matters in the playoffs.

Hawks fans also believed Bowman when he said that no more trades were needed...guess we all live in our delusions:)

fair enough, ladd is bigger, which seems to be what bowman is valuing right now, and has won the cup twice. keeping either one would be a success. maybe i just like the steeger's style, he's had some amazing goals.

who believed that? not knowledgable fans

andy strickland/james mirtle both say that andrew ladd is still being shopped. hard to tell if he's actually being shopped or if lots of teams are just inquiring, but just throwing that out there.

unlike Wings fans?

Also Buff, Sopel, Versteeg and Madden are significant loses. Most of these knowledgeable Hawks fans seem to think they are not

i'm not talking about those guys. i went to a red wings board and theyre convinced they're going to lose MORE significant guys. that's what im talking about. try to keep up.

it's sounding like that stuff about only the 1.3 going against the cap is BS. sounds like it's still the 4.2 mil

which means ladd and probably sharp or bolland.

maybe start thinking about a 95-100 point season next year?
