What a slimeball to make everyone do all that work to verify that he did in fact use PEDs when he kept swearing that he was clear of any wrongdoing. And then one day randomly, he pops up and say 'yes i did use peds, but LANCE ARMSTRONG DID TOO!"

I assumed public opinion already knew that all cyclists are on PEDs.

Seriously, I don't understand how people can think otherwise.

add sprinters to the list. there's absolutely no way usain bolt isn't on something, he went from average to greatest of all-time real quick. michael phelps, too.

actually, all athletes in general are under suspicion as far as i'm concerned.

Me too.

Still though, to incorporate accusations about Armstrong into your grand confession is a slimeball thing to do.

Oh good, Landis is using the ole "if I am going down (or already down), I'm bringing you with me" ploy. If there isn't a less credible person in America (other then the president, and Jose Canseco), I can't think of one. Edited by RedFlash

Suspicion of being awesome.

EMBRACE THE AWESOMENESS.

Cycling: boring or most boring sport. Discuss.

Distance running is more boring. At least with cycling there's always the possibility of a crash or a pedestrian getting run over by racers.

Lance Armstrong is the Barry Bonds of biking. Everyone knows he did something, but he's never been "caught" so to say.

And that makes him like a man who swore under oath that he took steroids how? More of a Sosa.

Well, it'll be tough to sway American public opinion...but isn't there a lot of European dislike/distrust of Armstrong already?

Only with the French. In other traditional cycling nations (and in Belgium in particular) Armstrong is generally liked.

Cycling is quite exciting, actually, and has an almost religious following around here.

Not many annual events can turn out between half a million and a million people on the streets like the Ronde van Vlaanderen.

Thanks. I knew the French for sure, but I wasn't sure how far that extended.

Yes like Sosa, but Armstrong's impact on cycling was much like Bonds in baseball (which I was aiming for). And there is probable evidence that Lance took EPO during his 1999 race.

Archived urine samples from the 1999 Tour de France were later retested for the presence of synthetic erythropoietin, or EPO, which can boost an athlete's performance by increasing the oxygen available to muscles. Samples allegedly taken from winner Lance Armstrong at various points along the 2,290-mile route showed the probable presence of EPO in the 2004 tests, according to testimony and evidence in Texas arbitration hearings.

Results of the tests

A blood doping expert retained by litigants in the arbitration case testified that his analysis of EPO tests found results consistent with a series of injections during the Tour. A reading of 80% or higher was considered positive for EPO.

Prologue, July 3: 2004 analysis of sample taken after this 4.2-mile sprint showed reading of 100%. Such a level is consistent with an injection within hours of the race.

Stage 1, July 4: 89.7%.

Stage 8, July 11: The next sample tested was from this 34.8-mile time trial. A positive reading via "visual interpretation" but no percentage reported.

Stage 9, July 13: 96.6%. The first mountain stage.

Stage 10, July 14: 88.7%.

Stage 11, July 15: Missing.

Stage 12, July 16: 95.2%.

Stage 13, July 17: Positive reading via visual interpretation but no percentage reported.

Stage 14, July 18: 89.4%.

Stages 15-20, July 20-25: EPO levels undetectable. The retained expert called these results consistent with what would be expected in an athlete who had ceased taking EPO injections.
