let me point out that this eliminates miami from lebron's plans. they cannot sign him, at least, if they want to fill out a team in a few years. if they are all max players, they will all be making 20 mil in like 2 years. that's 60 mil in salary and now they're capped out. they can't continue to sign low-priced veterans because you can't sign free agents if you're over the cap. they'll have to sign 9 players (assuming they trade chalmers and beasley to do it) to 5 year deals averaging around 1.2 mil per year (though they can give raises) while utilizing their mid-level exception on the 10th. if they keep beasley and chalmers, it becomes 8 veterans for a lot less money than 1 mil.

they can't continue to re-stock their roster with players every year, it will have to remain static. they'll always be at this critical level where their players cannot retire or get injured. they can't do it, they wouldn't want to. those players would have had to take a major pay-cut to all play there. they're done in free agency.

Miami would be allowed to use the mid-level exception every year and they can spread that around to multiple players if they want. Or they can sign all the players they want to the minimum. That plus draft picks would be plenty of roster turnover for them.

I don't think Miami will get all 3 players, but if they did they still would have flexibility to fill out a team over time.

what kind of draft picks are thy going to get? NG guys that can barely breathe out of their mouths on an nba floor. my point is this idea that they can keep bringing in waves of nba mercs is just a myth.

keep in mind that by year 5 of the contracts, those three guys will be making like 80 mil. miami better be successful.

Yeah, let NJ have Boozer. I'd much prefer Lee. Just don't spend money because it's there.

And then look at a guy like Morrow and Korver. The more shooters the better.

Sure, they are very unlikely to find stars at the end of the first round, but they wouldn't need stars. They would just need players to give them good minutes and there are plenty of draft picks around that range that can give them that.

By year 5 their payroll would likely be even more than that. They would have 3 to 4 players signed to mid-level deals, probably a player or two signed to the low level exception and a couple of draft picks. They would have to go way into the luxury tax, but every year their team could just get deeper and deeper.

I still don't understand this LeBron to Miami talk. A lot of people who know way more than me are speculating it, but I'll be floored if LeBron ends up there.

1) Is there the money?

2) Does he want to play with the other guys and "dilute" his brand?

I would be a bit surprised if the Nets went after Boozer before/instead of Lee. Lee fits in really nicely with that team and there's been a lot of speculation that Pokhorov wants him to stick it to the Knicks.

I think Lebron to Miami is a fantasy. Even if they managed to squeeze him in, they'd have no room for other salaries.

How's Lee's defense? I know it's pretty difficult to guage in the system he was in, but Boozer's pretty bad defensively.

I make a concerted effort to watch the Knicks as little as possible, but in the few games I've seen, I wasn't impressed.

Boozer is only two years older than Lee. He's better with his back to the basket. He's not an inflated D'Antoni producer.

I'd rather have Boozer.

Look at his PER, per minute and rate stats before D'Antoni got there. He's not inflated by the system.

Lee has played 142 fewer games, 5,600 fewer minutes, hasn't had the injury problems and doesn't have the motivation questions. He also at least tries defensively.

Depends on where he's playing. As a PF I think he's at least average. He just can't handle the few good C's down on the block. He at least tries to play defense and seems to have some interest in it, unlike Boozer.

For me, it's not Boozer's age (28 isn't old). He's a major injury risk.

Well this is crappy news to wake up to.

On the bright side, you get to wake up at 10:30.

This is true. It has a lot more to do with me being sick than anything, though.
