It would be awesome to have Lebron in Chicago, but if he doesn't come and as long as the "superteam" thing doesn't happen the Bulls could still make out pretty well in FA. Adding one of D-Wade/Ray Allen and one of Chris Bosh/David Lee/Carlos Boozer would still make them a title contender.

There's such a huge difference between D-Wade/Bosh and Ray Allen/Lee. And that's assuming you can get Allen, which I don't think you can.

I find it impossible to believe that he would have a live one-hour special to announce he was throwing another nail into the Cleveland sports coffin. Impossible.

Those Windhorst tweets make me wonder though.

By the same token, why would he hold an hour special to say "nothing's changing. I'm staying where I am." That would be one hell of a LeBron Circle Jerk to last an hour if that's all he has to say.

It's going to be a LeBron Circle Jerk no matter what he has to say and where he decides to go.

A thought just occurred to me: Eric Spoestra was in on the meetings with Lebron. It's widely speculated that if Lebron signs with the Heat, Riley will come back to coach.

I am trying to get a visual on Lebron and Riley talking free agency and the possibility of Lebron, Wade, and Bosh all signing with the Heat. And Lebron asking the question "so if that happens, will you come back to coach or will ...." and then subtly point to Spoestra.

LeBron's definitely reaching Brett Favre levels with this. At least Favre wasn't so arrogant as to have a hour long special on ESPN dedicated to his signing (not an official one, at least).

If you don't believe the superteam possibilty, then I think we're in good shape. So, do you believe the Heat possibilty?

You can't discount Miami, but they are behind the eight ball in that Toronto have stated publicly they didn't like what Miami was offering, thus making it hard for Miami to land Bosh. Then you throw in the fact that Bosh isn't going to Cleveland, or there is no room in NY for Bosh and Amar'e, which leaves re-sign with Toronto and trying to work something out with either NJ or Chicago.

I don't know why Houston doesn't get more love for Bosh then they currently do.

Completely different situation. Favre is an old man who knows he's coming back but takes over 6 months to make an announcement. LeBron will have been a FA for a week when he makes his announcement. Favre is a great QB, a Hall of Famer. But Lebron is also a shoe-in Hall of Famer, and is the biggest FA in the history of the Earth. If this was 1990 and Jordan was a free agent, you would have seen the same thing.

So I guess it's Boozer and/or Lee! Yeah, to a 50 win team that can get to the 2nd round. I'm so excited!!!!

I think I'd rather have David Lee. A couple years younger. Slightly more athletic. Probably a better rebounder and scorer also.

I'm still not excited.

If I were a Bulls fan there's no question I'd rather have Lee. Lee and Noah would be the biggest pairing of "try really hard" guys who are actually pretty good in a long time. Add Ray Allen and you've got a really good chemistry team with some balance. They can't win the title next year but could get to the conference finals.

My "poor man's" Jazz comparison could look pretty good if they sign Boozer and Korver as I've heard rumored.

Lee is better than Boozer, especially over the longterm. I'm still hopeful LeBron will sign here, but if he doesn't, I'd grab Lee and Reddick and save money under the cap to make a run at someone else in 2011 or 2012.

It is what it is. I feel very good about my Chicago winter sports right now, with the Hawks a championship team, and Rose continuing to develop into an attraction as an NBA star.

Two championship calibre clubs at the same time was a pleasant fantasy, but not necessary for me to still feel real good about where we're at between the NBA and NHL right now.

An optimistic Soul. Weird.

This sucks. This offseason is basically going to clinch irrelevancy through 2016.

My fear is the nets have a ton of money to burn. They could offer Lee or Boozer the max.

They will. I don't think there's any doubt to that. We're going to have to overpay for somebody.

Miami will be really good. Some vets will probably sign at a discount to get a chance at a title.

I'm trying to decide which is better for the Bulls: LBJ in Cleveland with a slight roster change or LBJ in NYC with Amare. Neither seems dominant, but the latter seems, like Miami, a better destination for vets looking to get a ring before they retire.

Not exactly. This could only happen in very recent years.
