I think Milwaukee's announcers are pretty solid, or at least Anderson is. Colorado's are ok too. But it has been a while since I watched another team's announcers since I didn't get MLBTV this year. No point since I can't get Cubs games.

Anderson is pretty good, but their color guy is a shameless excuse maker/apologist, plus he sounds like he is always talking with his mouth full.

There are a lot of bad, bad broadcasters out there, but Hawk has go to be the worst. He's the kind of guy who is such an unabashed, biased homer that needs to be relegated to the radio booth (a la Santo, whom I also have a hard time listening to, ftr). If you're going to be calling games on a superstation, you really need to have at least a hint of professionalism.

And has been said, the Mariners guys are pretty awful. I also dislike the Pirates crew, who seem the be either morose or off the handle excited, never in between. I dislike the Reds' guys, though Brantley is the only one who is just bad. The Brennemans aren't bad, they're just petty, spiteful Cubs haters. Al Hrabosky also falls into this category. Detroit, Toronto and Florida also have poor broadcast teams, IMO.

As for crews I like, the Red Sox, Rangers, Giants and Orioles have good crews. Of course Scully, and before his death Harry Kalas are/were nice to listen to.

i love the astros and rangers guys. i dont know their names and couldn't tell them apart, but I watch their games on FSN all the time, and they all seem relaxed and funny.

I don't go out of my way to listen to vin scully games, but I like listening to him when I do. It feels like watching a current day game being played with a announcer soundtrack from the 30s.

Good:

Marlins (annoying calls but solid broadcast)

Mets

Vin Scully

Yankees

Rangers (Lewin makes the game exciting)

Twins

Bad:

Astros (zzzzzzzzzzzz)

Cardinals

Reds

Ugly:

Nationals (Dibble's a bigger homer than Santo + his affiliation with WSH makes no sense anyway)

Pirates (that Michaels walkoff in 2008 was one of the worst baseball calls I've ever heard)

White Sox (speaks for itself)

It doesn't get any worse than John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman. It boggles the mind that these two can hold down jobs in the #1 market.

making fun of her HORRIBLE "goodness gracious!!" moment when Clemens came back to the Yankees.

Waldman crying on-air after the Yankees get eliminated in '07.

To this day I still do not understand what the hell "Mrs. McDavis" meant.

As for mine...Hawk is the worst and its not even close.

Rob Dibble is the Hawk Harrelson of color commentary. He is truly awful.

Between the Brennemans and Jeff Brantley, the Reds broadcast crew is one of the worst.

The Braves radio crew is usually solid. Same goes for Milwaukee and San Francisco. Also can't say anything bad about Vin Scully.

I personally wouldn't mind if John Sterling and Keith Hernandez were both flown to the Moon and left there..They are horrendous.

At least Sterling has a broadcaster voice. Waldman is clueless and sounds like something out of Coffee Talk with Linda Richman

From PA to radio to TV the Cardinals are the worst for this reason:

When it comes to discussing the Cubs, they are so completely unprofessional. I know that I am biased in this discussion, but seriously. You cannot get through a broadcast on radio or TV where they don't take pot-shots at the Cubs no matter who they are playing or what the division standings are at the time. Also, pay attention to the PA announcer at Busch when the Cubs are in town. Can the guy get any more childish? I could be wrong, but I don't know any team where the newspaper, radio, TV, and even PA hate on another team as much as the STL media and PA do on the Cubs. You don't get it the other way around. Len, Bob, Pat and Ron may want the Cardinals to lose and even say so on air, but they don't belittle individual players, coaches and fans of the Cardinals.

Not to mention you can listen to their radio broadcast for two innings and not know what the score is, but if the Cubs are losing somewhere else you'll probably be told that.

Also, Milo Hamilton is horrible.

They should never let Tim McCarver and Joe Buck do a game together on a neutral station ever again. Tim is just an idiot anyway.

Broadcaster voice or not the "He got that one! It's going! Back! Caught by Pedroia!" and the "That was a Text from Teixera", "Swisherlicious" and "A-Bomb" need to go away forever. I do agree though, she's bad as well.

Their color guy is Bill Schroeder. I don't find him to be particularly shameless when compared to others. Actually is quite complimentary to the Cubs when they do something good.

I really don't mind needing to watch the Crew's broadcast when the Cubs play them.

Yes he is.

And the by far worst (again, like others, admitting my bias but swearing it has nothing to do with this) are Cardinals color guys Hrabosky and Shannon. I try to give Shannon a pass for the stupid [expletive] he says because he's kind of their version of Santo, and I get that. But Hrabosky doesn't have that excuse. He's just a 100%, full-blooded moron. To wit: a few years ago when he said god wanted the Cardinals to win.

I'm pretty sure Harry said essentially the same thing about the Cubs once.

Best announcer: Vin Scully

Worst announcer: Hawk Harrelson and Milo Hamilton.

Announcer I will mute 150% of the time: Joe Morgan.

At least Hawk can be entertaining when he is sad or mad, Joe Morgan is neither entertaining, or fascinating to listen to.

Everybody else is in the bleh to eh, ok catergory for me.

I like Vin Scully. I liked Vasgersian and Mark Grant with San Diego, but Vasgersian is now with MLBTV. I never like Keith Hernandez the person, but I don't mind his broadcasts for the Mets. I like Mark Grace with Arizona (haven't caught a game this year, assuming he's still there). I like Duane Kuiper in San Fran. I like the Cubs team and after that, it thins out pretty quick. The Brewers guys seem okay.

I was wondering about Mark Grace too. Is he still doing the D-Backs? He was my favorite player growing up and I always thought he was funny.

Now I remember where I heard that. During the montage that WGN-Radio plays at the start of every Cubs game, they play a clip of Harry saying, "The good lord wants the Cubs to win!"
