while it's an amazing run for UCONN, people need to realize that on any given year, there are like 5 good women's basketball teams. The lack of parity in women's basketball is incredible

This, if anything I think what UCONN is doing is bad for the sport.

women's basketball is so predictable, there are almost never any upsets ever.

UCONN broke UCLA's record. Now Auriema is critical of the attention. While I'm not "up in arms," about UCONN breaking UCLA's streak, I dislike the fact that the media insists on comparing records across the genders. Both streaks are impressive in their own right, but there is no need to compare records of coaches and teams between the mens and womens games. In my eyes UCONN did not break a record today, but extended the streak of their own dominance in their own sport. Congrats to them for being the best at what they do, its damn impressive, but lets keep the record books separate.

It's hard to get a grasp on just how big of an accomplishment UConn's streak is right now. If UCLA's streak allows UConn's accomplishments to become more tangible, well isn't that what sports and history are all about? Nobody's taking anything away from UCLA here.

Probably the biggest game for Northwestern's NCAA tourney hopes tonight, easily the most important non-conference game for them.

Phil Pressey has a broken finger and is out for a few weeks. And we don't know if Dixon is unsuspended for whatever he did last week. Ugh.

Sutton's going to run the point against Illinois.

Anderson reinstated Dixon.

Jacob Pullen, his sideburns and Curtis Kelly have been suspended for three games.

I only saw the last 8-10 minutes after getting back from the Iowa game but holy cow was Northwestern's defense awful. St. John's shot over 80% in the second half and over 60% for the game.

IPFW hanging with Purdue so far. Only down 25-22 late in the 1st half. Go Dane Fife! :clapping:

old high school teammate of mine plays for IPFW; I felt sorry for him having to match up with JaJuan Johnson

Braggin Rights tonight, first time I'll be able to watch in 3 years. Here's a statistical preview focused on Illinois. And Anderson said yesterday that Dixon will play(thank goodness).

Any predictions from the Illini fans? I'd ask Butters, but he'll just be mopey and say we lose by 25.

I don't have his number, you're the one who bought the kegerator.

What the hell was Northwestern doing last night?

The center position was a big of a liability as you can reasonably imagine at the college level. It was the kind of performance where you question whether either of them had seen a basketball before. Terrible with the ball, failed to collapse on defense, and just stood there on rebounds until St. John's had already pulled away at the end. Combine that with missing Thompson for almost 10 minutes in the 1st half due to foul trouble and Crawford looking as bad in the 2nd half as he looked good the night before (4 2nd half turnovers) and you've got an ugly display.

It would be nice if it counted as a road loss instead of a neutral site.

Nice punishment. 1 game. What a joke. Mizzou show's its true colors yet again.

What are its true colors?

Gold and black, I believe.

Whatever Wal-Mart tells them to be.

My prediction: Illinois loses a close one on a late turnover or botched inbound play.

No, we just won't get a shot off in the last 5 minutes because we have a 7 point lead and go into stall mode.

2 games. And considering no one knows exactly what Dixon did to be suspended, the outrage is pretty amusing.

"We have high standards for how we expect our young men to carry themselves. Michael didn't meet those standards, therefore he is suspended indefinitely."

Indefinite generally means more than two games, unless you're playing Illinois. If he broke a team rule it's one thing, but when the coach provides no details it and uses language like "indefinite" it becomes quite another. If it was not a serious infraction than Coach Anderson should have used weaker language.

God help us if it comes down to a last second play, we know how well Bruce sets those up. My guess is Illini by 10 if they keep turnovers under 12. If they are over 18, we will lose by a dozen or more.
