in summation;

randle = stanford

shaw = illinois

and i'm fine with that.

although i wasn't so fine with randle picking stanford, [expletive] punk.

Just be happy he didn't pick Purdue. Painter is having a rough time with his 2011 class.

Of course Selby got cleared. Of course.

you expected anything else? kansas has an army of gypsies and unearthly creatures from the 5th dimension at their beck and call.

well, unless you guys know something I don't, he hasn't been cleared to play. He's been cleared academically. His amateurism is still being investigated.

Sure would be nice if Tony Mitchell could be cleared academically.

Maybe ricky clemons can tutor him.

Maybe they can hire Darrel Arthur's teachers to review his grades.

We have two left to fill. Get Langford and then go after Marerro hard.

langford is making the trip up for an official visit this weekend...i wouldn't be surprised if he committed this weekend or soon thereafter.

lil blurb on shaw's committment

Shaw said virtually the entire roster chipped in on the recruiting effort, including senior Demetri McCamey, who's had some publicized run-ins with Weber and will be gone when Shaw arrives.

"I thought it was real big for him to take time out of his day to let me know that they've always been there for him," Shaw said. "He told me that if you come here, they will treat you right."

this part i love...can't wait to see all these kids play together.

Brandon Rush went to 4 high schools. One of which isn't even accredited, but he managed to qualify.

I'm loving the family atmosphere we are building with our program. It's unfortunate that it took so long for us to get it to the point where the ex players are back around the program. Every recruit mentions it. Kudos to Weber and staff. Now start winning some games and get us back into the second weekend of the tournament.

Great article, we are gonna have more talent on one team than we ever had.

no doubt. with these kids, there's no excuse for not being a top 10 team and a final 4 contender every year.

it will only get better as we gain momentum. illinois hasn't ever had a run of recruiting like this. they may have gotten higher ranked talent, but the quantity and quality has never been so excellent and balanced over the past 3 recruiting years. these kids go back to chicago and see all of the younger recruits that look up to them and want to be just like them, they see the family atmosphere and they want to be part of it. we have finally progressed past the point we were at when pearl ruined everything. only took us 20 years to do so.

i still think we win the big 10 and go deep into the tourney this year.

In Pearl's defense though he has done nothing but uphold the rules of the NCAA in the meantime.

Now that we have Mike Shaw, my new guy I want is Tommy Hamilton. Get him and you get Parker.

Apparently Iowa reported violations in having recruits meet Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher. I didn't even realize this was against the rules.

Ashton went to Iowa didn't he? I know there's something about not being able to have alums recruiting for you.

He got kicked out before he graduated, iirc.

I think he just dropped out but I don't really know.

How's that any different than Harrison Barnes meeting Michael Jordan though? Maybe because Jordan played. Or maybe the NCAA doesn't really care that much and Iowa just wanted to avoid trouble? I don't know.

MJ just *happened* to be there at that time (oddly enough, UNC's biggest 2010 recruit's official visit came on the day MJ and other famous alumni were on campus...what a coincidence). If Jordan had just contacted Barnes, it would have been a violation.

Hanner Perea to IU.

Good news.

It's going to be hard to imagine an Indiana team with legitimate size!

Perea thinks that both Zeller and Yogi Ferrell will follow him (along with him already putting in a call to Gary Harris to recruit him). I'm a little more skeptical about if that's going to be true. The key is still Zeller...if he comes Indiana will likely get one of the highly rated guards in the 2012 class. And if that happens, would that not be enough to consider them a legitimate threat?

If Cody commits I'm 100% sure Yogi follows. Gary Harris, I dunno. It is possible. These kids have been recruiting each other for a while now starting with Austin Etherington who has definitely pushing hard on Cody, Yogi and others.

I feel pretty good about Cody though and it isn't just because of what Dan Dakich has said. I'll leave it at that. :good:

I'd bet my savings on Harris not going to IU

Yeah, I'm not confident at all about Harris. I think they have a decent shot at Ferrell. They also have at least a somewhat reasonable shot at Hollowell (although of course he's a forward). There's a couple other top 100 Indiana kids that could be fallback plans as well.
