Yep and there is some buzz that Jeremy Hollowell could follow suit in the coming week. That would be awesome.

Finally some good news for IU basketball! I don't know if I can handle 2 more crappy years though. Patterson, Hollowell, and Jerkin would look nice alongside Watford, Hulls, and Creek. The only problem is that if Watford and Creek continue to develop, they won't be around in 2012 anyway. And if they don't, the combo won't look so nice. Of course that is looking way too far ahead.

That combo will look just fine, imo, with or without Watford and Creek (who I don't believe are going anywhere early, btw). They do need a point guard, though. Yogi would be a terrific get, especially if there is anything to the buzz that Gary Harris is also back on the front burner. I don't know if there would be enough basketballs for Harris, Hollowell, Patterson, and potentially Zeller.

Good problems to have to think about, finally. Of course, it's all a lot of speculation at this point.

You really don't think this team will continue to improve the next two seasons? If we lose 20 games again then I'll eat my shoe. Barring another critical injury like a Mo Creek repeat then I'm feeling pretty solid about the 2010-2011 team winning at least 15 or 16 games which would get them into NIT territory. I'd expect the incremental improvement to continue in 2011-12.

BJ Young is also still in that conversation at PG. Although he would come with some risk..........he may or may not qualify.

He's in the conversation, but I'd almost rather hang on to that schollie for '12. It creates an imbalance but there is just soooo much talent in that class. We've not even mentioned Perea or D'vauntes Smith-Rivera. (Or Hammons, Tarczewski, Marrero, etc...) It's a gamble either way you look at it.

My gut feeling is that Yogi will commit first and that will take BJ out of the picture. I could see us going with just Zeller and Etherington for 2011 and then 2012 could be Patterson, Holloway, Jurkin, Perea and Ferrell.

Either way as long as we get Zeller and Perea then I'm not as concerned with which point guard we get between BJ and Yogi.

They'll improve, but the conference isn't getting any weaker. I don't see them winning 15-16 this year. Maybe 12-13. Then 15-18 the year after, and 20 or so if Zeller comes in 11'.

Edit: Didn't realize they won 10 last year (was thinking more like 7-8). I figured 4-6 games better this year, so 14-16 wins is doable.

ND vs IU in Conseco in Dec. 2011, then vs Purdue there in Dec. 2012 as part of the ND/IU/Purdue/Butler "Crossroad Series". I like this idea.

That's great to hear. I really miss playing Notre Dame.

Also, apropos of previous posts, I really struggle envisioning any scenario where Watford makes an informed decision to leave early. (It's honestly pretty difficult for me to imagine him even in the NBA.)

Yeah I can't imagine Watford ever being drafted. I understand he's only had 1 year on the college level, but I don't see him as athletic enough for the 3, or big enough for the 4.

There was a somewhat similar doubleheader played every year back in the 80s and maybe into the 90s. It was Indiana, Purdue, Kentucky, and Louisville (Notre Dame was odd team out). It was called the Big Four Classic and was also played in Indianapolis. I believe it was a rotating matchup of Indiana schools vs. Kentucky schools.

i think that the general consensus is that he will not qualify.

Ruling Barton ineligible was BS from the get go. At least the NCAA smartened up and reversed their ruling. And by the way Memphis is loaded next season. So much for the program crumbling when Cal bolted, as many predicted.

I'll admit that it's amazing what Pastner has been able to do. Is WWW still friendly with the program?
