Anyone else see that Austin Rivers decomitted from Florida? I wonder if this means the same for Bradley Beal since many believed Rivers was the reason he went there?

I was wondering the same thing. Is Rivers likely headed to Duke? Or is he gonna got the Calapari route like every other guard?

I think he will go to Duke. I hope it lands you Beal and us Randle.

self has already invited the whole florida basketball team to midnight madness this year.

Outstanding.

The two interesting things I read about Beal are:

UF was his choice, but the people close to him were unhappy with that choice and trying to push him elsewhere.

A big part of the draw of UF was it was more off-radar than the other schools. Almost that the fanbases at KU and UI would have been too rabid, and that he preferred the low-pressure environment at UF.

The strange thing about that rumor is that it was completely made up and everybody KNOWS it was made up (Beal's whole team didn't go to MM, nor were they invited), but UI fans are so insane they STILL hold it against Self.

Except it was true.

And I wouldn't say I hold it against him, it's just a funny fact to lampoon, like his hairpiece, Crean's clapping, or Gillispie's debilitating alcoholism.

Well, he's an awful coach. Though pretty clearly a good recruiter.

He's not a good coach but it's still amazing when you fire a guy with a 61-31 record, 2 NCAA's and a good recruiting class coming in. I wonder if Tubby would be in play there?

This article/the quotes seems to confirm my opinion that Wake has itself a very good AD: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/blog/_/name/katz_andy/id/5067873/wellman-gives-reasons-firing-gaudio

No, it wasn't. Simply posting something on illiniboard doesn't make it true.

Hey Raisin, according to Peegs Howland was at Bloomington South's open gym. Even rumors Carlino will graduate early and suit up for the Bruins next year.

Carlino being able to graduate early has been a big plus since the Bruins are so weak in the backcourt. Just curious, what is Peegs?

Peegs is an IU board.

I wonder if Capel is going to angle for any of these openings (like Wake). The situation is deteriorating at OU with Warren and Mason-Griffin going pro, along with the Tiny Gallon problems. One of Capel's assistants just resigned today, too.

I am hearing things that make me pretty optimistic on this and Kentucky is not in on him, at least not yet

Oh, sorry I spoke to you as if you were an Illinois fan. Peegs is the main IU message board, ran by Mike Pegram ("peegs") out of Columbus, IN (it's now a rivals.com site though). I believe you can certainly consider this information accurate.

Read the same thing on the scout.com IU board, that Carlino will graduate early and play this fall for UCLA.

beal's whole team was invited, and then quickly uninvited when beal said he wasn't going.

Well, the UCLA Scout board now has confirmation that Howland has been in Bloomington. I'm pretty pleased as UCLA desperately needs the backcourt depth and scoring (of course, I can't imagine a kid skipping his SR year of high school would be able to contribute much his freshman year).

Andre Dawkins contributed a fair amount to Duke this year as the 4th guard, but my guess is that UCLA would be counting on him for more? I am honestly asking since I don't know how UCLA is supposed to be next year.

Butler's Brad Stevens apparently agreed to a 12-year extension. I'd be shocked if he's there for half of that contract.

I don't think I would. He's going to be making north of $1M now, they've been a top 25 program for the last 5 years and he has a top 5 team coming back next year. He's comfortable, near home and is so young that he doesn't need to hurry for that big money grab anytime soon.

It's like Sean Miller when he was at Xavier or Mark Few at Gonzaga, he can turn down plenty to wait for an elite job.
