Yeah, I posted that in the potpourri thread. I never realized that Jeremy was Denny's son.

He lost his job as an ESPN analyst because of this.
He's not who we THOUGHT he was.

The Titans and Chris Johnson have reportedly reached a compromise to get him into camp. Fantastic news.

Both sides are reviewing the contract, which could be signed within the next 48 hours. Some of his maximum $2.5 million escalator will be moved forward, and no new years will be added to the deal, the source said.

"We're still talking through some issues," a source familiar with the process said Monday. "It's going to get done, but it's not done yet."

Now, even Favre's own agent, Bus Cook, is tired of the drama. According to Men's Journal, Cook angrily ranted to Favre about him contacting ESPN's Ed Werner to state that he needs ankle surgery to play in 2010.

"Now why did he do that," Cook said to Men's Journal. "...[expletive], why does he have to be such a goddamned drama queen? Play, don't play, [expletive], people are getting sick of it. I'm getting sick of it!...You got problems with surgery, talk to your wife. Why talk to goddamned Ed Werder?"

That's awesome.

Ed Reed may miss the first 6 games of the season.

Reed, who is recovering from offseason hip surgery, told a Baltimore radio station that he would begin training camp on the physically unable to perform list and likely will remain there when the season starts.

If Reed begins the season on the PUP list, by NFL rules he would miss the Ravens' first six games. In that scenario, his first game would be against the Buffalo Bills on Oct. 24.

Dez Bryant signs his deal with the Cowboys and becomes the first first-rounder to sign a contract.

Also signed Sean Lee. Can't wait to see them both on the field.

Bulluck to the Giants. Good move if he's healthy.

Per the report, Bulluck will be given the starting middle linebacker job and he chose it after working out for the Arizona Cardinals

Rams in "serious" pursuit of TO

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen has reported that the Rams are in “serious” pursuit of free-agent wide receiver Terrell Owens. The Rams are extremely thin on the depth chart at wide receiver. They have Donnie Avery, Laurent Robinson, Brandon Gibson and rookie Mardy Gilyard as top possibilities on their roster.

I figured you would be posting the story of Fisher being all mad at Kiffin for poaching Pola.

Lane just needs to stay outside the borders of the state of Tennessee at this point. I understand the move by Pola somewhat, but it seems like he could have waited another year, let CJ run wild, and then get an offensive coordinator position at a school that doesn't have sanctions against it.

And just so I don't let SpongeWorthy down :-) :

Fisher said Kiffin, now head coach at Southern Cal, never contacted him as he tried to convince Kennedy Pola to join his coaching staff. On Saturday morning, Pola accepted a position as offensive coordinator at USC, leaving the Titans without a running backs coach a week before training camp.

This is pretty irrelevant when considering CJ, but it would have been nice to have Pola around to help develop the young RBs we have behind Johnson.

Isn't Lane his own OC? I guess it might be helpful if Pola wants to parlay this into a HC job at some small school where having the OC title without the responsibilities might still look important. But it still seems like an unusual time to leave an NFL job to take the same gig at Southern Cal.

While at Tennessee, Lane called his own plays but still had Jim Chaney with the official title of offensive coordinator. I'm sure there are more responsibilities that go along with that title, but Lane's OC isn't completely in control of the offense either.

Even without playcalling duties, I think this is a step up for Pola. He was the RB coach only in Nashville, but will have added responsibilities at USC. However, I still think he could have waited a year, let CJ have another huge season and parlayed that into a better OC job at a school not on sanctions and, perhaps, where the head coach doesn't call plays.

tennessean.com[/url]"]The Titans on Monday filed a lawsuit against the University of Southern Cal and head coach Lane Kiffin for “maliciously” interfering with the contract of running backs coach Kennedy Pola.

The lawsuit was filed in Davidson County Chancery Court and it claims Pola breached his contract with the Titans after being induced by Kiffin. Pola, hired by the Titans in January, was hired by USC over the weekend as the school’s new offensive coordinator.

The lawsuit states “as a result of USC and Kiffin’s tortuous conduct, Tennessee (Titans) football has been damaged in an amount proven at trial.’’

I had no idea they could do that. I don't really see a point to it, except to make a statement about how pissed they are at Kiffin and USC.

Am I crazy for thinking the Lions can push 6+ wins this season?

I see about 4 or 5 winnable games this year for the Lions...

Rams at Home

Redskins at Home

Bears at home

Bills on the Road

Bucs on the Road

Plus, Dolphins on the Road?

6+ is probably pushing it a bit. The most realistic path to 6 wins would be: v St. Louis, v Washington, @ Buffalo, v Chicago, @ Tampa, @ Miami. Otherwise they have 2 with Minny, 1 @ Chicago, 1 v Philly, 2 v GB, 1 @ NYG, 1 v NYJ, 1 @ Dallas and 1 v NE. Winning vs Chicago and vs the Jets are probably interchangable for the most part.

I could see 4-5 wins this season, which would be a nice step in the right direction.

You counted Bears at home twice. I think Detroit will be better, but I don't know if they'll win at Soldier Field.

I was going to say the same thing. I don't think they would beat the Bears twice, but they did beat the Redskins in Detroit last year. And generally played pretty decently at home last year. Both wins were at home. Played the Steelers to the wire at home. Led at the half vs. the Vikes at home.

They also only have 6 outdoor games all year. Two of them are Miami and Tampa in December. They go to Chicago, Green Bay, NYG, and Buffalo all before the halfway point in November.

Edit: don't mean to mislead. The Lions play at most 7 games outdoors in every year. Point is, they probably won't play a game under 50 degrees all year.
