what team does Favre play for next year?

Doesn't he have another year on his contract with Minnesota? The Vikings don't have an Aaron Rodgers to move on with.

Yep, for $13 million. I don't think any is guaranteed.

This one comes down to Brett trying to do too much.

Nah, it comes down to that 12th man in the huddle. If not for that, it was an automatic run call for the next play and Longwell probably would have come through.

Bingo

Cardinals. Warner retires and Favre goes there.

he's doing the Deion Sanders/Terrell Owens thing late in his career

Well now all 11 Vikings can play in the Pro Bowl. A bunch of subs were going to have to play if Minnesota won.

I'd be shocked if more than 3-4 of them actually play.

Funny you say that because I could totally see him finally retire for a season or two and then try to make a comeback.

Actually, it comes down to the timeout called with 19 seconds left. They should have let the clock run down, called timeout, and kicked the FG.

Glad Favre lost, but the horrible OT rules and inability of refs to call PI was on display in all its ugliness there.

The Vikes never get an offensive chance, and the Saints drive is kept going by questionable calls.

Not the best way to choose a champion.

Favre could have tucked it and run, picked up a few yards and gotten them back to where they likely would have been had they not had the penalty. He didn't have to try to force a throw like he did.

They would've wanted to get closer than a 50 yard attempt. There's nothing wrong with the timeout at 19 seconds...just don't go full [expletive] mode and put 12 guys in the huddle. And then don't compound it by throwing a pick.

I could see that too, though I was referring more to Sanders annual "gauging which team I'm most likely to win a ring with"

He could have thrown the ball away if he didn't have it in him to run, to boot.

"it's not wet anymore!"

well, except with all the vomit and piss of these [expletive] saints fans

I thought the Thomas 4th and inches play warranted a longer review...I'm almost suspicious if they got all the angles because the one Fox showed before going to commercial showed it was very, very close (and it would've been the best angle to judge from).

I'd blame Childress for the conservative play calling at the end of regulation. Longwell's an accurate kicker but 50+ yards isn't a gimme at all and he's never been know for his leg strength. Favre's horrible decision to throw into coverage instead of running it kind of sealed it.

I think the Colts win against the Saints though. The Colts can defend and the Saints can't. That'll be the difference.

But , but, but, he's the great gunslinger Brett Farve who can make something out of nothing.

But he wouldn't have had to make that questionable decision if it weren't for a significant mistake immediately prior. As the mistake that started the cascade of issues that lead to their defeat, you have to say the 12th man penalty was what the game really hinged on.

As to the question of whether or not the time out call itself was a mistake, I have to think it wasn't. 50 yard field goals are still pretty long. I can understand the desire to use your 3rd down to try to improve your field position by a bit.

But they still might have thrown the ball even without the penalty. Like you even said, 50 yards is still a long FG and if you run it up the middle, you're probably only looking at gaining a yard or two, which still leaves you with a kick over 45 yards.

NFL kickers made 72.9 percent of FGs this year from 40-49 yards and 52.9 on 50+. I'd guess you're looking at a two in three chance of a 45-49 FG being made. Even if you think Longwell has only a 50 percent chance of making that kick, whether it's from 48 or 53, it's still a chance. After Favre threw the pick, Longwell had a 0 percent chance to make the kick. Bottom line is, you have to give your team a chance to kick a field goal. The penalty hurt their chances but it's not like it knocked the Vikings back to a 60-yarder. Favre's penalty took away any chance they had to win the game in regulation.
