Jeez... Every single member of the female Russian curling team is 19 - 23 and freaking gorgeous. I kinda want us to lose now.

I have no idea why we are talking about anything else in this thread right now then this!!!

it's kind of crazy to see just how god awful non-curlers are at curling when it looks so damn simple.

I think a buddy and I are gonna go to a curling "open house" next weekend. That should be high comedy.

Has anybody else been able to get the NBC Olympics video players to work? Every time I want to see a highlight the video says it is temporarily unavailable...

I was able to watch the costas/colbert thing, that's all

Working fine for me. Looks pretty good, although it's dumb that it can't go truly full screen

My wife and I went about a month ago to a learn to curl session and it was a ton of fun.

there are standards of what the skaters have to do and degrees of difficulty that are decided upon long before the skaters go out there. if they don't hit what they're supposed to do, they lose points, that's not subjective.

you think they can just go out there and do whatever they want and get judged arbitrarily, i get it.

No, I don't think they can just do whatever they want. But it's still judged by humans, which is ridiculous for any sport. It's why the moguls event was disappointing even though the action itself is quite cool (blowing away figure skating).

now you're the one dealing in subjectivity.

skiing, imso, is awesome to do but moguls are incredibly boring to watch. i prefer the downhill and super g. and i'd rather watch skating than some made-up subjective nonsensical sport like halfpipe even though i enjoy snowboarding, too.

I agree. I love hockey and skiing outside of moguls. No interest in snowboarding. Generally I don't watch figure skating but that was pretty good last night. For those types of events, the broadcasters make a big difference and the figure skating crew is great.

Disagree on curling. It's addicting to watch and the commentator is great.

Anyone else think the Aussie who won the gold in the half pipe last night was really hot. Hoping to see her in something that was not all covered up.

You have three major sponsors [Roxy, Salomon and Gravis]. The fact that you're good-looking helps, doesn't it?

At first, I was struggling with that whole thing. I thought, that just sucks that your snowboarding ability can't just talk for itself without looks being involved. But my manager explained that it's the whole package, and that's marketing, that's the way it works. So now I accept it. The sponsors allow me to travel, pay my bills - I couldn't do it otherwise. But luckily I can actually snowboard.

Female athletes have posed for magazines such as Ralph and FHM. Would you ever consider doing something like that to raise your profile?

I'm Mormon, so I personally would not do it. We are taught that our bodies are our most sacred things. I definitely would never do anything like that to better my career. There's no point. But each to their own.

Was that just a gutter ball? I just saw a stone bouncing off the side wall.

yeah i don't know what the hell happened, and the announcers didn't talk about it at all, but the french guy threw it and then turned away angrily, and it just went right into the wall. that was awful.

I did that a lot.

Me = French Olympian.

And I'm really bummed that I've seen so much curling but have not seen the Russian women yet.

Here ya go... This one was definitely my favorite.

Hopefully France Shuster's this last end. Their skip looks pretty good so I doubt that happens, though.
