it doesn't help that announcers don't explain the rules at all. they push the stone and then it goes somewhere and everyone cheers and I have no idea what's going on

The pbp guy is about as knowledgable as I am. The problem today was they had that woman who didn't explain things very well instead of the old guy who is a stud.

That was such a bizarre interview. Boiled down to "you're 19 years old. Why are you focused on curling instead of acting like a college student? Your social life must suck." repeated several times.

No HD for the USA/Canada game tomorrow for those of us with DirecTV. CNBC's Olympic Coverage ends at 7, the hockey game starts at 6:30. I get CNBC in HD. This is so lame.

NBC has decided that watching grown men wearing sequins and prancing around an ice rink is more HD worthy than USA vs. Canada.

It's on MSNBC. He's complaining because it's not on CNBC

DTV doesn't have MSNBC HD?

Nope. Not yet. The other big one is no WGN HD. So we don't get the Cubs/Bulls games on WGN in HD.

 

There are a few chinks in the armor of directv's HD coverage right now.

It's too bad Shuster had to [expletive] up so much in the first four matches. We should be at least 4-2 right now and probably 5-1, with an outside shot at 6-0. We should definitely be in contention for the medal round but instead, we're pretty much screwed.

yeah we're not as bad as it seemed like after we were 0-4.

 

what i don't understand is how we keep ending up in these situations in the 11th end. we've had the hammer every time and are 1-3, and it took a nice shot by jason smith to get that win. when you only need one point, shouldn't you just be clearing out the traffic every shot? instead we keep ending up with 30 rocks on the ice and trying to wind our way through them with the last rock.

Keep in mind the first four rocks cannot be cleared if left in the free guard zone.

Forgot about that. I suppose the other team would just put those two in a place that would make it hard to impossible to take both out with one throw.

The properties of curling shoes are confusing. They can slide on them like a skateboard when they want to, but get great traction while running down the ice
