Brees was starting to run away with the MVP, but it looks like Manning's going to make him work for it.

I had Manning ahead of Brees before this game and I still do after.

How? There is no logical argument for this at all. They both lead undefeated teams and Brees beats him in every stat save 80 fewer yards (on a lot less attempts though).

The only people that support Manning support him because he has an undefeated and is Manning. Sorry but this year there is another who has an undefeated team and doing better in practically every statistical category.

I never said that Manning was having the better season. What I said was that Manning was the more valuable player which, you know, is the award.

Indy's leading rusher is averaging 3.7 ypc. NO's leading rusher is averaging 5.3 ypc.

Indy has a running game ranked No. 31 in the league with 86.1 ypg. NO has a rushing game ranked No. 5 in the league with 138.9 ypg.

Brees has far more weapons around him than Manning does with Colston, Henderson, Meachem, Shockey and Bush. Manning has Wayne and Clark, sure, but who knew who Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon were before the year?

Manning has done it against opponents with a .478 winning percentage. Brees has done it against opponents with a .402 winning percentage.

If the award was given to the guy with the best season, then sure, give it to Brees. But Manning has been more valuable to his team and I believe he's more worthy of the Most Valuable Player award.

The premise was ridiculous to begin with. Saying that a 14-0 will lose in the playoffs because they've almost lost some games is just kind of stupid. I mean, there are playoff teams, believe it or not, that haven't even won all their games, let alone almost losing some games.

They are allowing teams to take a lead going into the fourth quarter a lot. That is not a good quality to have heading into the playoffs. The Colts have trailed or been tied going into the fourth quarter 5 times this season with a couple of those games the Colts needing 21 points in the fourth to win. You can keep doing that all you want but it will comeback to bite you eventually.

Think about it for a minute. Seriously, take a minute. You're acting like they're doomed because they've almost lost a few games. Every other AFC team actually HAS lost games. They've all lost multiple games. The next best team has lost 3. I'd say almost losing is a better quality to have going into the playoffs than losing. Unless your argument is just that there is a chance the Colts lose in the playoffs, then you make no sense at all. Which teams off the top of your head can you think of that have never almost lost a game?

I agree with this. Before last night it seemed like Brees was running away with all the stat leads. If Manning can keep it close, I think he'll win it.

Chris Johnson should be in the debate, especially if we're only looking at raw stats. He's having one of the greatest years a running back has ever had.

Forgot about him. If you're just going by stats and the most impressive season. I'd give it to him over Brees, especially if he gets to 2000 yards.

On a related note, how much do you see the Titans pushing him for 2000, dew? I know right now they're still in the playoff hunt but if they fall out for whatever reason, do you think Fisher would call a few extra plays for CJ to try to get 2000?

Even if awarding it is predicated on team success, there's absolutely no way the Titans are close to 6-7 without CJ. He won't win it on a non-playoff team, but I really think he should.

I think he wants to hit 2,000 and I don't think Fisher will pull him or anything. The offense is so reliant on the running game and CJ's contributions anyway that I don't think they'll have to call extra runs or anything like that.

Even if we lose another game and are officially out of the playoff race, I still think CJ get his carries. I doubt Fisher will give him 40 in a game or something, though.

Does anyone else get sick of seeing an NFC East matchup on primetime every weekend? Don't get me wrong these are mostly good teams and their rivalries are really good, but it's like every week its Dallas/NYG or NYG/PHI or PHI/WAS and I don't know I just get sick of it. It doesn't help that 3 of the 4 teams are like the same team in my mind, every week its a 7-6 team playing an 8-5 team or something. From a casual fans view these 3 teams (PHI/NYG/DAL) all seem the same. They all have good but not elite QBs, they all have their share of solid WRs and RBs, their defenses are good enough but not elite. The worst thing about it is, IMO none of the 3 teams is good enough to get to the conference title game. So I could care less about watching these NFC East matchups every week. I want to see out of division and out of conference matchups once in awhile.

It could be worse. Last year it seemed like the Browns were on primetime a bunch. I'm sure that's how people feel about seeing the Bears on so many primetime games this season.

They do get way overexposed. They seem like the Red Sox/Yankees of football. Anytime they play each other, they're on national, primetime tv somewhere.

I've noticed this as well. Those cities are large population centers and have strong traditions. It gets tiresome, but at least the teams are competitive this year.

I mentioned this last week. It's a little annoying, but if they're good games (and this season, most of them have been), I can live with it.

I'm not saying any of that. I'm simply saying getting down and counting on a big fourth quarter is not a good trait to have and I'm pretty sure Caldwell probably harps on them about playing better earlier in games.

The start of tomorrow's 49ers at Eagles game has also been pushed back to the late afternoon slot because of the weather.

Now the whole country will get to either see the Falcons-Jets or Cardinals-Lions. And now even less people will be able to see the Cincy-San Diego game (since the Philly market will likely be shifted to the 1 pm CBS game since their game is now at 4:15). I really wish it was a CBS doubleheader tomorrow.

I don't see how it will effect CBS if the game is on Fox. It will just prevent a lot of people from seeing Packers - Steelers.

It affects both in the markets these cities are in. In Chicago for example, they originally were going to see their game, the Packers game, and the Cincy-San Diego game.

Now that their game is moved, they'll see their game, Miami-TN, and probably the Detroit-Arizona game. Both games ended up changing because they don't want to play a game on the other channel at the same time the Bears are playing.

Green Bay can clinch a playoff spot with:

* a win (vs. Pittsburgh) and a Dallas loss (vs. New Orleans) OR

* a win and a N.Y. Giants loss or tie (vs. Washington) OR

* a tie and a N.Y. Giants loss

That's what I figured. I just didn't know if there was a scenario where Dallas would lose but in some way a three way NFC East tie would keep us out.

why do the Saints constantly get down big and have to come back?

rope a dope baby! we let them blow their load offensively early.

of course that's BS, but that's what I wish was happening. They just have SOOO many injuries on defense.

The New Orleans defense must think that their game isn't until Sunday or something.
