Let me see if I've got this right. There are currently 6 7-7 teams in the AFC. The Titans hold the tiebreaker over 2 of them: Houston and Miami.

Thus, for the Titans to make the playoffs, this all must happen:

Ravens or Broncos lose out (to go 8-8)

All of the Jets, Steelers and Jaguars must lose one of two

Is this right? Or does more need to happen?

They only hold the tiebreaker over Miami and Houston if they don't tie with them and another team. So, the Titans will make the playoffs at 9-7 if no team other than Miami OR Houston finish 9-7, but not both of them.

That confuses me. If we hold the individual tiebreaker over both of them isn't that the key? If not head-to-head and conference record, what is used to break 3-way ties?

Well, they have the tiebreaker over Houston regardless.

But Miami is a different story. And there are lots of scenarios that could possibly involve the Dolphins. They could win the division, which would be bad for Tennessee as Tennessee cannot beat NE in any 2 or 3 way tiebreaker. They could possibly beat Denver or Baltimore in certain tiebreakers which would then cause Denver or Baltimore to eliminate Tennessee.

So if either Denver or Baltimore win their 9th game the Titans also want them to win their 10th game just to avoid that scenario. And NE beating Jacksonville would be very helpful for the Titans because it not only gives the Jags a loss it also makes it impossible for Miami to win the division.

This is all very confusing.

So apparently Brett Favre is the coach of the Vikings, not Childress. Seriously, I can't wait till Favre takes his huge ass ego, and goes home for good.

You don't take out someone who is/was in the MVP voting and led the NFL in QB rating for a good portion of the season when you are down one point.

I would hope he would want to play. This is more just pure Favre hatred.

My brother who lives in Wisconsin said the news is saying he has done it multiple times this season. This would make me think that the idea is that Jackson would run a wildcat type formation to "provide a spark." Therefore Favre is a egomaniac who needs to put in line. Yes he is a HOF and yes he is doing great but undermining the coach shouldn't be allowed no matter who you are.

there's a difference between not wanting to come out and being a dick about. childress is the head coach, not brett favre. it's his call.

brad childress is dumb, but he's the coach

I really can't blame Favre for being pissed off. I mean it was a one point game.

This sounds like the third or fourth time this has happened this year as well. It's more of a fault at Childress than it is at Favre, I think.

Again, it happening more than once makes me think it is for a wildcat type formation to utilize Jackson's speed and running ability. Favre needs to suck it up. McNabb has put away his ego for Vick. Favre needs to tdo the same or get the F out of the league. If I was the coach I wouldn't stand for it. The player needs to be a player and not a coach and no matter who he is if he refuses to do what the coach tells him to then he needs to be benched until he will do as told. Obviously if it's a do or die game and a guy like Favre you don't bench him (reprimand him later) but in this case it wasn't a must win for Minnesota. Childress should have pulled him and let him know that he is still a player, no different than AP or any other player.

I can see Childress's point, though. How many more hits do you want your HOF Quarterback taking with the playoffs mere weeks away? At least he could have been rested for a while and inserted back into the game for the final few offensive series if the game was still close.

And I was glad to see classic Green Bay Favre, the BS we had to put up with for years: Hit him a few times, get inside his head, and he goes and makes throws into triple coverage that a Pop Warner QB wouldn't make.

The Browns and Mike Holmgren have come to terms for him to become the team president.

The Cleveland Browns announced a few minutes ago that former Seattle Seahawks general manager and coach Mike Holmgren has agreed to join the organization as club president.

Over the weekend, Holmgren turned down an opportunity to return to the Seahawks because he wouldn't be reporting directly to owner Paul Allen.

With Holmgren taking over the Browns' football operations, Mike Keenan is moving to the new role of chief financial officer.

I'm expecting this Redskins performance to be similar to the Bears' performance next week vs. the Vikings.

Totally read that as Brees' performance next week.

Unless their bench is hit by a meteorite, I can't see how things could get worse for the Redskins today.

Daniel Snyder could always buy the team, oh wait...
