As Rosenthal notes, it's not clear if they will ask him to play left field or take over for Jacoby Ellsbury in center. Cameron, 36, is among the best defenders in the game and hit .250/.342/.452 with 24 home runs, 32 doubles and a .795 OPS in 544 at-bats this past season for the Brewers. >>

Well it appears a Cubs target may be off the market. A good move for a team like the Red Sox.

Crap, Hendry better step in and get a deal done. But I dunno if I would want him to get in a bidding war for Bradley or give him a two year deal.

I'm really having a tough time believing that the Bradley situation is not handcuffing the Cubs this offseason.

If Cameron is off the board and Bradley's gone, it sounds like we have a Marlon Byrd signing coming up. Great.

If Cameron signs I would hope we just keep Bradley.

Bradley is better than Cameron and keeping Bradley wasn't an option then, so I don't know why it would be an option now.

everyday I check the board to see if we have yet to rid ourselves of Milton. The next thing I always hope to see is that Byrd, Ankiel,Posednik, have signed elsewhere. It's looking bleak with Granderson and Cameron looking to be gone.

Amongst the scraps, Coco Crisp is the one guy that I'd have some interest in.

He's a top defender and, if he's healthy, he might be able to put up some decent numbers if you got him out of the Big Boy League.

If we don't get Cameron, I say lets just sign Ryan Church and resign Reed Johnson. A platoon of Church/Johnson in CF will be pretty productive and cost less then what Byrd will get or what Scott Boras wants for Ankiel. I guess a platoon in CF and RF isn't ideal. But we could probably also use Baker in RF to play against some LH pitching.

I don't know I would say that Bradley is a better player than Cameron. Bradley has the better upside while Cameron is more consistent. It's pretty close on who is more valuable overall.

I would agree that the free agent options have little to no bearing on their decision to trade Bradley though.

Yeah, if Bradley's better, it's not by much (unless he reverts to his Texas offensive days).

At this point if Cameron signs with Boston, just hold onto Milton and save yourselves from overspending for a guy like Byrd or even signing a guy like Pods.

So essentially the 2010 Cubs will be nearly identical to the 2009 Cubs, but without three of the bigger headaches. Cool. So we're looking at another 82-85 win team next yr barring some miracle.

A Fuld/Crisp platoon would be a lot better than many people would think. Perhaps indistinguishable from having Cameron play CF.

2 years for $15.5. Glad Hendry passed/didn't get into a bidding war.

I think I would have been allright with 2/15.5 honestly. Especially considering the ramifications of us missing out on him. Byrd is not high on my list whatsoever, but Ankiel and Podsednik would be awful.
