I want that Friday after Thanksgiving national tv game with Nebraska. Forget Minnesota, they can play Wisconsin on the last week of the year.

Iowa vs Nebraska could, potentially, develop into a pretty good rivalry.

Not as good as that Iowa-Iowa State rivalry could be though.

Not sure the SEC needs to expand, but if they do I'd imagine the possible candidates include Georgia Tech, Clemson, one or both of FSU and Miami, and whoever in the Big 12 South hasn't gone to Pac10, so A&M or OU maybe?

I like what this could potentially do for Iowa's recruiting in KC and StL if Mizzou and KU both get left in the cold or move to the MWC.

OU is gone.

If the Pac-10 expands to 14 and tries to get an automatic BCS bid for both division champs, I could see the SEC expanding to 14 and demanding the same.

They're not going to 14... they're going to 16.

From who's perspective? Iowa State's? No one outside of Iowa cares about Iowa/Iowa State. ISU isn't even Iowa's biggest rival, Minnesota is. If it weren't for the state legislature, the Iowa/ISU game wouldn't even be played.

Now, I will give you this, if ISU was good more than 2-3 years out of 20, it could be a good rivalry. But they haven't been, nor do they show signs of turning that around.

While it wouldn't be OSU/MI big, Iowa/NE, the Friday or Saturday after Thanksgiving would be huge and would draw a big audience OUTSIDE of those two states.

If only there were some way for those teams to play each other...

To think of all I've been missing my entire life.

Playing it kinda fast and loose with the word "big", don't ya think?

I'm as big a college football fan as you will find, and there is no chance that I would care to watch that game. I'd be more than a little surprised if a game of that caliber was even anything more than a Regional broadcast.

That's a mild surprise. I was sort of expecting lots of hemming and hawing about why this transition should last longer than the US's involvement in World War I.

The SEC Commisioner is in College Station today meeting with A&M officials.

So who is the most likely candidate for the SEC to pull over along with A&M?

If texas pulls a fast one and goes to the Big 10, I expect OU to join us. If not, I'd guess the SEC makes a run at Virginia Tech.

It would make sense that it would be Virginia Tech. Clemson, GA Tech( I hope the SEC never offers GA Tech) Florida State and Miami are not need teams for the SEC, cause the conference has their foot on those markets already. No need to bring in redundant schools. The SEC doesn't need to get to 16 teams like Pac 10 or Big 10, so the SEC doesn't need to take 4 teams and make it 16 teams. I will be more then happy with just A&M (Gene Stallings is really pushing A&M to the SEC, btw) and Virginia Tech joining the conference and call it a day. Now if Virginia Tech declines the SEC, then FSU would be my second choice.

Yes, from I've heard the SEC doesn't consider GA Tech/Miami (FL)/Florida State as having much value add. Just another school taking a bite out of the pie, instead of adding to the pie (a la Texas A&M or VA Tech).

I completely disagree that the Big 10 "needs" to get to 16 teams. In fact, considering the money the conference already rakes in, the Big 10 didn't need to do a damn thing.

That might be the case, but their actions (re: the recruitment of Nebraska and Notre Dame) speaks very loudly. Don't get me wrong, but bring alot to the conference, but if Big 10 "didn't need to do a damn thing" then why are they? Don't say money cause that is painfully obvious.

Money.

You can say that's painfully obvious, but that doesn't make it any less true. The Big Ten wanted more money, they didn't "need" more. This isn't exactly a very sophisticated nuance.

You notice that it was the Big 10 who started this superconference crap, then the Pac 10 took to the next level, all because lil ole SEC is the top dog in college football.

You say it's money, and it's a money grab, but don't pretend that it isn't a move by the Big 10 and Pac 10 to close the talent level gap that separates the SEC from the Big 10/Pac 10.
