If they added A&M and Mizzou, that would make for some strange divisions in the SEC. I guess they'd move Bama and Auburn to the east.

East: Fla, SC, Tenn, KY, Aub, Bama, GA

West: A&M, Mizz, OleMiss, LSU, Miss St, Vandy, Ark

That layout would certainly make me happy. Get Bama the hell outta my division.

Looks like those additions -while most likely making the SEC more money in the longterm- will weaken the crap out of its football in the immediate-term.

LSU would win that division 9 out of 10 years.

No offense to Missouri fans, but I don't want Missouri in the SEC. I like where Bama is, and much rather not face Florida on a yearly basis, unless it was for the SEC Championship. I prefer to add one team to the west (A&M) and one team to the the east (whoever). And I still think that is the most likely scenerio especially over adding two teams to one division and moving two established in that division over to the other division, even tho said move would be geographically sensible.

- Big Ten is likely to keep 8 conference/4 non-con games (in order for most schools to keep 7 home games per year)

- Likely format is 5 games against your division, 3 against other division.

- Divisional formats may be announced by end of summer. Several models are being discussed, and best options will be offered to school AD's for final decisions.

- Most likely model is the Eastern time zone teams in one division and the Central teams in the other. This would guarantee that OSU/UM, UM/MSU, etc. would play every year.

If it makes you feel better, I'm still not sure if I'd rather Mizzou go to the MWC and be one of the best schools in a slightly lesser conference than have to deal with SEC lunacy in everything. I don't know if I have the energy to follow my team in a conference where I hate everyone in it.

Where is this from? I still wonder if they might put PSU in the "west" division even though it makes no sense geographically. It would only affect football and they fly for every game anyways. I could see them wanting to avoid the appearance of a Big 12 North/South imbalance, though the Big Ten West would be stronger.

If not, having Wisconsin and Nebraska as the top competition between us and a one game shot at the title every year? Yes please.

so

1. OSU

2. MSU

3. UM

4. PSU

5. INDIANA

6. PURDUE

1. NU

2. ILLINOIS

3. UW

4. IOWA

5. MINN

6. NEBRASKA

i'd say that's a favorable basketball division for the illini.

the source is a Columbus Dispatch article (link)

they did say that "competitive balance" was of concern when deciding divisions. You don't want to have the Big Ten West become the Big XII North.

I'd rather be apart of the SEC Money Machine.

the west seems much worse in both sports, comparatively speaking.

Football: OSU, UM, PSU > UW, IOWA, and NEB

Basketball: OSU, MSU, PURDUE, and Indiana if they ever recover> UI and UW

Not a lot of competitive balance, imo

Texas A&M turned down invite to join P10 in mtg today with P10's Larry Scott and Kevin Weiberg in College Station, a Big 12 AD confirms.

Not surprising, but there was no way A&M would head to the Pac-10 without going at the same time with Texas, anyways.

If you had your druthers for MU and could pick one of the following, which would it be:

PAC 10 replacing aTm

MWC with Big 12 remainders

Eastern division of Big East with Big 12 remainders

3) MWC

As mentioned by Butters, the reason why Missouri would go, is because the SEC is a friggin' money machine. Big 12 or the MWC can't offer anything close to what SEC can with TV revenue (regardless of Dan Beebe's "plan"). The reason I don't want Missouri is that they bring nothing to the table. The can't carry the St. Louis/Kansas market, the fan base is nearly as passionate, the only thing they would bring them to the SEC is too give Arkansas a rival. Right now both Arkansas and LSU do not have a true conference rival, (ie Alabama/AU, Bama/Tenn, Flordia/GA). That's the reason why the SEC should pass on Missouri, but's also the reason why A&M is such a fit in the SEC. Ties to the SEC, rabid fan base, a market the SEC wants to tap, etc, etc.

Then TT you won't have to worry, cause I don't see Missouri joining the SEC.

So like I said, I'm not super keen on stepping down in academic prestige and not change anything competitively and have my fan interest tested by legions of SEC crazies.

A&M recruiting insider Billy Liucci says he's confirmed through two different sources that Chip is wrong on this one.

I don't think going to the SEC would be a step down. After all, academic wise you are no Vanderbilt.
