Shipley, Barnes, and Tate are the finalists for the Biletnikoff. It's insanity that Alexander wasn't even a semifinalist, never mind a finalist over at least Shipley and Barnes.

Barnes was putting up some pretty sick numbers, but suddenly Alexander has just 71 less yards and 2 less TDs than him and Barnes has 37 more catches. It's going to be a travesty when Shipley wins the award because he goes to Texas.

And Barnes has been putting up his numbers going through the MAC. He combined averaged 7 catches for 47 yards against the two legit teams BG has played(Boise State and Mizzou).

Shipley's special teams probably gives him a boost even though it shouldn't for this award.

enough to get over Tate? ND flopped this year, but Tate's a human highlight film. it's too bad he runs crap routes or he might be truly dominant.

The latest from the SB Tribune:

The 22-year-old junior from Westlake Village left the restaurant/bar without incident initially, the source said. But Clausen's date forgot her purse inside. The two went back into get it about 2 a.m., and as they were leaving, Clausen's date was pushed by a man outside the bar.

Words were exchanged between Clausen and the man, the source said. Clausen pushed the man away, with his hand landing in the man's neck area. The man then punched Clausen in the eye, and the two wrestled on the ground for a few seconds before the fight was broken up.

Police were called to the scene, in part because of that incident, in part because of some other skirmishes going on at the establishment. No arrests were made.

SEC officials suck so hard. Calling a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct when a guy dives for the endzone with an opponent bearing down on him.

As long as Florida and Bama go undefeated the SEC officals have done their job.

It was a stupid mistake by Clausen, but at least it's nowhere near as bad as MSU.

http://www.detnews.com/article/20091124/SPORTS0202/911240408/1361/MSU-football-players-assaulted-students--witnesses-tell-newspaper

The State News reported that witnesses described an assault that occurred in the lounge of Rather Hall at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday. That would have been about 90 minutes after the football team's annual banquet, on campus, had ended. The student newspaper said that witnesses and students described an incident in which 15 to 20 men stormed the dormitory and injured about seven students, including women.

Apparently, most of the men were MSU football players.

MSU has kicked 2 players off the team

Michigan State football players Glenn Winston and Roderick Jenrette have been kicked off the team "for violation of team rules," coach Mark Dantonio said in a statement Tuesday.

It was not immediately known if MSU's decision to kick those players off the team was in any way related to the fight that took place at Rather Hall on MSU's campus Sunday.

Winston, of course, is the player who was reinstated this season after spending 180 days in jail this past summer for a assault and battery charge. He was involved in a fight last year in which a MSU hockey player was seriously injured.

Sounds like Dantonio made a good decision bringing him back on the team.

i love ND fans and their sense of entitlement. talking about turning down bowls when they're what, 15-20 over the past three seasons?

It has nothing whatsoever to do with a sense of entitlement and more to do with the fact that ND would likely lose money going to that bowl game and has very little to gain from it. Yes, practice time, but if the new coach isn't ready/able to coach the bowl game, what good does practice time under a lame-duck coaching staff do? Not to mention the predictable media laugh-fest if ND lost to Central Michigan - which I'm certain they would do.

Seriously, there aren't a whole lot of reasons to go to a Pizza Bowl, but if it makes you feel better to make up some sense of entitlement that doesn't exist, then go ahead.

How do you really judge those things though? It looks bad because he had another issue. If he would have not gotten in trouble again and got his degree Dantonio would be applauded for giving him a 2nd chance.

I think y'all do have delusions of grandeur as a fan base. Notre Dame fan reminds me alot of BAMA fan. Although I guess BAMA fans can't be classified as having "delusions" of grandeur anymore.

Major stunner: Ball State just beat Western Michigan 22-17 on the road. By doing so they eliminated WMU from bowl eligibility. 2-10! \:D/

This story is basically the same scenario that happened last October. 3 cars filled with MSU players show up at a house. The players file out of the cars and basically start beating on people. The hockey player (A.J. Sturges) was asleep, hears the commotion, and comes outside. Winston sucker punches him and puts him in the hospital with a fractured skull and bleeding on his brain. He had to miss the rest of the hockey season. Winston spent 180 days in prison because of it. Is this really someone who should get a second chance?

Also, it's more about the fact that this is the 2nd time in 2 years that this exact incident has happened involving MSU football players.

It appears Memphis is prepared to hire Redskins secondary coach Jerry Gray its new head coach.

Gray interviewed this week and was a finalist for the position along with LSU running backs coach Larry Porter.

The announcement, assuming there are no unforeseen developments, is not expected to come until after Memphis has played its final game under outgoing coach Tommy West.

Gray was recommended to Memphis by Joe Gibbs, one source said

Interesting hire, I still think Tommy Bowden would have been a terrific hire.

As a fan base, definitely. I don't think I do, though - some may disagree - and I'm about the only person speaking seriously about declining a Pizza Bowl bid.

Pretty nice way to end the season. WMU's no joke - at least not inside the MAC. The Cards will get just about everyone back next year and Kelly Page should be much improved. Eric Williams and Cory Sykes can flat-out play. Can't wait to see them as a RB tandem next fall.

I was mentioning Shipley more so for making the Finalist list not for winning the award. Shipley and Tate are almost identical recievers. Tate is more the spectacular, Shipley is one of the best route runners in college football. Both are undersized and have great speed. Neither one has a great case over the other to win the award, its pretty much a push or slight edge to Tate. Texas has 2 games left, ND has one so that could push Shipley over Tate.
