I didn't read all 36 pages (sorry, it's too damn long), but is there ANY possibility the Cubs keep Bradley? Any possibility he rolls into Spring Training with the Cubs while they look for a suitable trading partner. Or any chance he's on the Opening Day roster?

There are plenty of people here that would like to just keep him. Some would like to see his value brought back up if he really has none at this point and then maybe see if they can get a return of some sort for him at the deadline or next offseason.

I haven't read a thing that says keeping Bradley is an option, however. We read reports that Cubs brass set up a make shift office in the lobby of the hotel at the winter meetings that seemed like a desperate attempt to catch every GM coming or going to see if they could sell them on Milton Bradley.

Knowing that Bradley can read just as well as the rest of us, I'm sure he's already got his bags packed. Between getting suspended for the remainder of the 2009 season and then Hendry spending the entire winter meetings begging other GM's to take him, I'm sure the relationship is probably strained beyond repair.

The situation is beyond maddening. First off, we dont have the money for an upgrade, so we'll be lucky to end up with a break even(Cameron), but more than likely looking at a downgrade like Byrd, Ankiel, or Podsednik. Also, weve just paid 3 mil to the hitting coach who helped Milton to the best season of his career, although Arlington obviously helped as well. If we were somehow saving up for Bay or Holliday, trading Bradley for peanuts might be acceptable, but in the cuent state of things, Milton is the best option by far. Im sure any players who have a problm with it will get over it if wining is important to them. What needs to happen is to have some kind of meting with Milton, Lou, and Jim, and any additional players who may wish to get invloved and work things out. As for the fans, if Milton puts togther a great season and hopefully helps us to the promosed land, Im sure it wont take any of them long to forgive Milton. This is business, not summer camp, and Im sure in every business, there are guys who dont like eachother, and in such a case, they learn to work with eachother, and if they want to stay away after work, thats there business. And if we kep him, and things still dont work out, if they want to trade him mid season or next offseason, I doubt the return will be any worse that it would be now.

The way it's sounding now, the Cubs might have to keep Bradley because nobody else wants him. The last team to show interest was the Rays and now they've spent money on Soriano and are hinting they may be done. I guess something might happen later (after the FAs sign), but I'm tired of waiting. Whether you're for trading him or not, it's time to make some kind of move.

Moving definitively is not the answer. This is pretty dumb that it keeps going on and on and on, but saying he MUST be traded or kept absolutely by the end of the week or something is how trouble like this starts in the first place.

Perhaps the speculation that Bradley goes to the Red Sox could be back on? Mike Lowell may not be traded after all.

My speculation is that Boston would get: Milton Bradley, a prospect, and cash. Chicago would get: Mike Lowell and another salary dump.

This trade would look a lot like Hundley for Karros and Grudzielanek.

Except that there were places on the 2003 roster-in-progress for Karros and Grudz. Where does Mike Lowell, an aging third baseman at best and a first baseman/DH otherwise, fit on the Cubs?

The same place Jake Fox did, as a pinch hitter and spot starter for the corner infielders.

Red Sox dump Manny to pick up Bradley. Interesting! I couldn't find another salary dump that the Red Sox would want to get rid of.

I didn't mean moving on Bradley necessarily (but it would be nice to have it over), but picking up Capps or some other move would be good.

What I want to know is why are there rumors that once the Red Sox move Lowell they will look for another 3B? Youkilis is the best 3B on the team. Move him to 3B, slot V. Mart at 1B and let Varitek start at C. When you let Varitek rest, put V. Mart at C and let Kotchman spot start at 1B. They really don't need to focus on a new 3B when Youkilis is one of the best in the league

Damn, the only fan base that I'd think Milton would have a harder time with than us would be Boston. I hope this trade comes through because Bradley in Boston would be epic.

I'd assume if the Cubs got Lowell, they most likely try to flip him in another trade?

That seems to be the most logical conclusion. It would be a good trade if we could land Lowell and then flip him: He'd get us more in return than Bradley would. He's not toxic.

I'd still rather hang on to Bradley, but if you must trade him it seems Lowell is the best possible trade target.

Once Bay and Holliday sign, Bradley's value should go up. For a team looking for an OF there isn't much else available.

His value would have to go up since it's negative infinity now.

I thought Lowell was already traded to Texas.

I thought that fell through.

It's taking a while to go through both guys medical reports. First the Rangers checked out Lowell's hip and the Rangers thought that was fine, now they seem focused on his thumb and that seems to be holding things up a bit and the Red Sox are checking out Ramirez and there are some red flag(s) regarding his health. Could be posturing by either side regarding the exchange of more/less money.

We get it, you don't like Bradley. You don't think he has value. You have said as much in every single post you've made over the last 3 months. Stop complaining about him and engage in a conversation worth having, for heaven's sake.

Also, the fact that he hasn't been traded yet is not evidence of his trade value or lack thereof. Nor does it really point to the Cubs being incredibly desperate to be rid of him.

Don't get me wrong, those things may still be true. But the trade not happening yet doesn't imply much about either thing to this point.

Exactly. So many are thinking the glass is half empty re this situation. Perhaps Hendry is taking his time because the offers for Bradley have sucked, and altho he realizes a trade must be made, he's not going to allow the Cubs to get totally fleeced in making a deal.

I'm as ready to toss Jim Hendry into a trash can and watch the New Age Outlaws push him off the stage ala Mick Foley and Terry Funk WWF Raw '98 as the next guy. But thus far, he's done what I'd want. Which is to listen to what deals are available, and do nothing if they make the team worse.

Paying Bradley to play for Tampa in exchange for another player we have to pay to play elsewhere makes us worse. Thus far, every rumored scenario makes us worse.

I just wish I had faith that doing nothing and just bringing Bradley back was actually an option on his table. I hope he proves me wrong, or pulls one more unexpected great trade out of his sizable posterior.

EDIT: I mentioned it earlier in the thread, but if Milton is really that unstable they can just use the original ECW method of bringing Sabu to the ring. Now with video!
