Ok, I know Lee has a NTC, but.....is there a trade market for Lee? Is is possible to either include him in a trade for Gonzalez or to trade him on the side for something else. I know the Padres would probably just trade him also. I know that Hendry is usually not this type of GM, but it is certainly something he should look into.

As well as he hit last season, I'd say there'd be a market for DLee. I doubt he waives his NTC, though.

I think the only way Lee agrees to wave his NTC is if he's given an extension that makes him hard to trade. At this point he's basically untradeable.

Gonzelez for Phil Hughes, I could see that one happening if the Yankees didn't have Tex. How about Gonzelez for Bucholtz and Jed Lowrie?

I think the Padres can get a lot more than either one of those proposals. I would think 3-4 young players/good prospects.

The Cubs best chance is probably SD holding out for more than anyone can/will offer for Gonzalez- similar to what happened with the Jays and Halladay. They wind up keeping him all year even though he's rumored to be traded any minute up until the deadline. Then the Cubs trade for him next off season.

Specifically, because I imagine they'd need the trade chips from the White Sox farm system in addition to their own to get the deal done.

However, it raises the question of why the Angels would want to displace Kendry Morales from first base for an older, slower and worse player.

White Sox, Angels and Padres discussing possible three-way deal.

White Sox get Adrian Gonzalez

Angels get Paul Konerko

Padres get Sox + Angels prospects

Why wouldn't the Angels just deal with the Padres directly for Gonzalez?

Cause they're probably not giving up much in terms of prospects? That or Reagins is really dumb

I think this has Zero Chance of happening, have no idea what in the world the white sox can offer to entice the Padres. White Sox pretty much have Zero in their farm system other than the Hudson kid. I'm kind of confused by this report because I think this makes zero sense.

On second thought, i guess it depends heavily on what the white sox are willin to give up. Although their prospects aren't that highly regarded, i can see the padres thinking about the white package if they included Viciedo, Hudson, Danks, Flowers, and maybe one or two more prospects. Though i highly doubt the RedSox let the White Sox win over Gonzalez without a fight so i think the RedSox will bid highly on him too. If the White Sox pick up Adrian, they would pretty much deplete their farm system.

Why would the Angels do this? Why not go after Adrian in the first place? Or, if they don't have the players to get Gonzalez, go after Konerko without Gonzalez, which would probably cost less in players then sending AG to the WS, even if they are closer to MLB-ready, which is what the WS would want.

That was my initial thought but then again, Morales isn't exactly an average 1st baseman for them so its understandable that they dont want to go after Gonzalez, especially with the amount of prospects it would cost them. I can honestly see the Angels agreeing to a three way deal only if the White Sox took back Mathews. If Williams pulled off this trade, it would be a hell of a pick up for them and i feel would make them the favorites for the AL Central.

For some reason, it's really easy to picture Adrian Gonzalez in a ChiSox uniform.

ha ha i thought the same thing. I think it has to do with Ozzie and how he continues to bring in Latino players to the white sox.

Daniel Hudson is going to be very, very good. Mark my words. If he plays in Petco... A rotation starting with Latos and Hudson would be a step in the right direction.

Isn't Vlad's contract nearly up? Konerko can't be much more than a DH to just about any team at this point.

Edit: Of course that still pales in comparison to Lincecum, Cain, Bumgarner, and Sanchez (not that I'm super high on Sanchez, but he's a good back end guy).

Ozzie doesn't make personel decisions, and I wouldn't even consider the White Sox all that Latino of a team. I feel like they are one of the whitest teams out there, with AJ, Konerko, Pods, Kotsay, Beckham, Getz, Nix, formerly Thome and Anderson, and then most of the pitchers. And Ozzie has been there a really long time now.

So the Angels are going to give up some good prospects to get an expensive DH? Why don't they just sign a FA like Blalock, Matsui, Huff, Vlad, Thome, Byrd, Dye, Nady, Tatis, etc. to DH for less money than Konerko ($12 million) and no prospects?

I always thought they were one of the blackest teams around. With Jermaine Dye. And Frank Thomas. And Kenny Williams.

The Cubs have been more "black" than them, with Lee, Hawkins, Jones, Pierre, Bradley, Floyd the Patterson brothers and a handful of utility guys in recent years.

Yeah, again, it was a joke. I should have made more clear that my intent was to laugh at White Sox fans thinking Cubs fans are all lilly whites, when, really, they are the much more translucent team. Pale Hoes

Hey, I didn't make up the trade idea.
