OU's offense is completely ordinary when it's not feasting on garbage Big XII defenses.

Not really, but ok.

They've been average at best against Florida, BYU, and Miami and record breaking against the Big XII. They've been figured out to an extent which was inevitable. Defenses weren't always going to be perplexed by that checking with the sidelines stuff forever.

But I think bowl season proved last year that a lot of the big numbers put up by the QBs in the Big XII was because of the horrendous defense that was played.

our shitty defense last year made florida's offense look average too, then

Just got back from the ISU game. Holy God as a Bears and Cubs fan I don't say this often, but damn I didn't think a sports team could break my heart this much.

Anyone want to play QB? If I have to watch one more 10 yard comeback skip in the dirt I'm going to vomit.

I really have no idea how Arnaud regressed as much as he has from last year to this one. If he plays like he's capable of playing today they probably win and are 50-50 to go bowling. Now they're pretty much done.

In other news, the stat lines in the Houston-UTEP game are insane. Keenum went 51/76 for 536 with a 5/0 ratio and lost by 17. Donald Buckram (great name for a RB) had 32 carries for 262 and 4 TDs for UTEP.

This may be mostly a gut feeling (or wishful thinking to improve Iowa's SOS) but I think Iowa State is getting to 6 wins. I think they beat Baylor and Colorado then they upset Texas A&M or Oklahoma State (I know beating one of those two teams may be a stretch. But I'm not impressed with Oklahoma State and it's at home and A&M just isn't that good). I'm not sure if 6 wins puts them in a bowl but I could see them being eligible for one.

The dream is over for UCD. Hell of a fight though. Boise better drop a bit.

Yeah they needed to get that pick at midfield. Now it is just a matter of whether Boise wins 27-16 or 34-16.

Well I suppose they could kick a FG too.

I would have loved even for UCD to get a field goal when they got to the Boise 50 with seven minutes left. That would have been amazing.

If the defense continues to play like it has the last three games (basically sans the Fresno game) and the offense doesn't start to completely blow, this team has a very good chance to run the table. They've played the hardest games on their schedule (Boise, Fresno, vs. Montana) and their hardest remaining game against Cal Poly is at home.

I'm not sure, at 8-3, if that would be enough to get them into the playoffs, though.

Auburn looked ok against Tennessee. The game would have been much different if UT had a QB that was even average...Crompton did get better in the 4th quarter though.

AU should be ranked for the first time this year, and I think they will be favored against Arkansas.

I think I might take Arkansas, that should be a high scoring game regardless.

I prolly would put Auburn at arond 24 (where Cal was) after the Tennessee game, but if they can beat Arkansas (all offense, no defense caliber game) in Fayetteville, then I would be more comfortable with Auburn being in the top 25. Right now...AU is still borderline top 25.

i wish i could get on board with this, but isu had so little margin for error and they already effed it up. they almost HAD to beat k-state if they wanted to get to six. they had four winnable games on their schedule...now they have to beat colorado AND baylor AND a&m. they could afford a slip up in one of the four winnable games, but it really hurts for it to come in the first of the four. now they have to play very well in their next three winnable games, and that's going to be hard to do.

seriously, losing a game on a blocked PAT. only iowa state. probably win that game if robinson doesn't get hurt...

Looks like Bradford is not going to start vs Miami. It's a combination or "Mustache" Jones acting like he's a heisman canadate throwing six touchdowns in a game and not wanting to rush Bradford back. Bradford will probably be on the bench just in case. It won't matter though, our defense will have their third straight shutout anyway.

We're going to be loaded at quarterback for a long time. Jones is only a freshman and Blake Bell (scout.com five star, #1 pro style recruit qb) coming in next year. Bradford might even stay another year (he's really wanted to get his degree) but i doubt that.

Hell, we have the number one recruiting class so far for 2010 according to rivals. We're just going to be loaded everywhere

Oops :-))

when does the illinois-penn state game start

It already did and Illinois lost. When does OU's championship run start?

every september for the last decade

i can understand how looking at a perennial 10-win, conference champion, BCS team may be unusual for Illinois fans and therefore you're confused.

Either that or you're ashamed to be tied with Indiana for last in the Big 10.

I hate to sound like Meph here, but ND was 18th in the poll going into Michigan. They lose on a TD pass with 12 seconds left in the game, drop out of the poll, and now have 9 votes. If that doesn't happen, they're probably sniffing the top 10 if only by sheer attrition. I don't see the huge difference between ND as a team whether they win or lose that UM game, but apparently it makes about 20 ranking spots worth of difference.

It doesn't matter. Yes, if ND beats UM, they're clearly ranked near the top 10. But they haven't beaten anyone convincingly since week 1. They've had some issues to overcome, especially the Clausen and Allen injuries, but they need to actually beat teams before the last minute. And it's all going to come down to USC anyway.

It probably has to do with that ND could just as easily be 2-3 as they could be 5-0 vs. teams that will be sub .500 when the season is over. If they continue to win it won't matter though as they will be top 25 in the next two-three weeks.

Something is wrong with me as I actually feel kind of bad for OU as they are starting to look like the Cubs or Mets. I was hoping for two undefeated teams in two weeks in Dallas. If the Oline doesn't improve Sergio Kindle is going to take someones head off depending on who is playing QB.

I wasn't saying they deserve to be there (though they have fewer votes than BC, which is patently ridiculous). It was just an observation.
