If he were on the DL now and was again to start 2010 through the 15th of April, his 3rd year option wouldn't vest, making the total outlay of money owed to him to be cut in half or a tad more actually. Which would make trading him at that point a whole hell of a lot easier. I wish we had DL'd him instead of suspending him and I bet Ricketts does too.

Because he would have fought the move to the DL, the MLBPA would have gotten involved and it never would have worked. That would create a hell of a lot more animosity and a "there's no coming back" situation than the current team suspension.

Hmmm, I wonder if that's part of the reason he was suspended. Hendry wanted to DL him due to the knee issue, Bradley told him no he was able to play, and then when called upon said he couldn't.

I'm sure the recent can play/can't play taking himself out stuff was involved in the whole discussion.

Definitely sounds like something that could have happened. I could see Milton and his agent not wanting to run the risk of losing the 3rd year and making life harder on Hendry from that aspect.

Here's a crazy idea. How about we don't dump our $10 million outfielder for pennies on the dollar. How about instead, we just institute a media blackout next season for Milton Bradley?

Don't talk to the press. Ever. Just keep your mouth shut, do as your told by your coaches, come to play a game of baseball and then go home.

All problems solved! O:)

That would take all the fun out of running him out of town though. He "has to go." All the talk-radio people and sports columnists have already said so. It has to be.

Bradley tried to at the beginning of the year, and the Cubs made him. I still don't really know why.

Taming of the Shrew/My Fair Lady syndrom. Hendry wantd to prove to the world that under his proper guidenceBradley could not only be productive for an entire season, but he could make a proper englishman out of him.

I think his English has gotten better.

Because we're a cosmic goat cursed clusterbleep just waiting for the next page of heartbreak?

In fact, someone really needs to make a Youtube video dedicated to the clowns running this team, and score it with Def Leppards "Bringing On The Heartbreak".

Don't let Paul Sullivan hear that or it will be reported as the truth. Why are you making things up to defend a guy who has had serious "issues" his whole career? Bradley has acted like this his whole career and that's why nobody wants him.

Did you mean to respond to me? How am I defending Bradley in that post?

And I don't know why I keep bothering making points since everyone keeps ignoring them, but multiple teams did want Bradley this past offseason.

Luckily, we run a baseball team and not the SAG. So it really doesn't matter how Bradley acts.

It's as simple as this. Unless you can get a fair return on a guy with $20 million left on his contract coming off of a .775 OPS season, it's stupid to trade him. Especially with a free agent market that won't allow you to replace him with much. It would be much smarter for this club to tell him point blank he's stuck here, and he better come to camp next year in perfect shape with perfect manners...or it's going to be a REALLY long 2 years.

Maybe he mans up for a half season of high caliber production, and then we could actually trade him for something in return. If the choice is to eat half of his contract and get a AA prospect in return, no thanks. We shouldn't be that desperate yet.

So, yeah, I expect the news of the horrible trade that runs him out of town as soon as the offseason begins.

Why don't we keep Bradley and trade all 24 other players, replace all of the coaches, replace everyone in the front office, and move the team to some small town in Nebraska where there will be minimal fans and media to bother him.

All problems solved!

Cause you can't play baseball with only 1 player. And I don't think MLB would approve of a move to a small town in Nebraska. I don't think you thought this through at all.

...or just tell him to STFU and do his job. Like anyone of us would be told if we were mouthing off at our jobs. Assuming we too were too valuable and/or expensive to eliminate to not just be fired.

Heres a thing for those of you saying"well what else was Hendry supposed to say about talking to Milton". Reverse it. I guarantee had a reporter asked Milton if he had talked to Hendry and he said " why should I, Im suspended from the team" you all would have been flipping the [expletive] out about his comment. Yet its ok for the GM to make that comment? Come on

I don't think anyone thinks Milton Bradley didn't act like an idiot this season. I think most of us (including myself) are pissed off at Jim Hendry for handling it like the little [expletive] that he is.
