holy crap that guy was either drunk or is a complete idiot.

That doesn't look terrible to me, it's just a different approach. If you beat power conference teams(or in FSU's case, Miami), you get rewarded. It's not universally consistent(like most ballots), but it's not so different than some of the blogpoll ballots that use that approach.

if florida played houston they'd win by 30. ole miss at 24? usc 25, oklahoma 22? none of these make any sense.

That's not what the polls are supposed to show. Houston played the better schedule with the same results, Florida will rise over them because they play much better opponents than Houston going forward. Ole Miss is down there because they haven't played anyone(a little inconsistent with Penn St being so high), USC and OU are down there because they lost(USC is inconsistent because they won @OSU). Looks to me like the guy values wins, and wins against power conference teams.

you just like him because he has Mizzou ranked

Not really, I'm just glad that he's not binding himself to preseason reputations. Not that it's a model ballot, I pointed out 2 inconsistencies alone in my last post, but I'd rather err on that side than the one that doesn't keep [Traditionally good Team A] in the Top 10 at the end of the year because they were there to start the year.

Gah Iowa didn't move up at all really again. Start the year at 21, get two convincing wins over BCS schools (one on the road) but win a squeaker against UNI and they're stuck in the 30's.

If the results of the UNI and ISU game were flip flopped they probably wouldn't have dropped. Even though UNI is quite arguably a better team than ISU.

Just win at PSU somehow and get in the top 20.

An asterisk should go next to Iowa State when they're described as a BCS school.

So I didn't realize ND's defense was just reverting to "completely crappy" after the Nevada game. Jon Tenuta should be fired immediately for giving up 450+ to Michigan freaking State.

That was an awesome ending and a "thank-God" win to get the stupid streak off our backs, but with Floyd out, very little chance of getting to a BCS game unless ND can gut out wins over all their non-USC opponents until he gets back. Hopefully Jimmy is ok, he was limping around the last 2 1/2 quarters of the game and is getting x-rays on his foot this week.

Golden Tate can stop dropping the ball any time now. Glad he got it together in time to catch the game winning TD.

I would say there was a very little chance of a BCS bowl before the season started.

You either don't know how the BCS works, or haven't seen ND's schedule.

mccoy and tebow have track records of actually being good at football. they also play at schools that are good at football, which helps in a heisman race.

While he doesn't meet the second half of your criteria, Eric Berry should be in the Heisman race - and high in it.

Wonder if Mallett has a chance of getting in that hunt.

South Carolina had a great game against UGA's defense too. I'd want to see Mallet do this some more, but I think he has an outside chance.

True. He needs a great game against Bama to get on the radar.

More frightening is the possibility of him being one-and-done with Arkansas if he's good enough for Heisman consideration.

If I were an Arkansas booster, I'd consider paying that $4m that Rich Rod owed WVU. Was that ever a windfall for them.

But I wouldn't worry too much about him being one and done yet. Maybe if he lights up Bama and Florida.

Yeah, one and done would surprise me. Especially with the potential for a strong QB class this year - Hiller, Bradford, McCoy, Tebow (?), Devlin.

You mean, skipped-the-draft-and-is-now-not-playing Bradford? Mallett has beyond prototypical size and strength and a great arm. If he performs at a level that's worthy of Heisman consideration, it'll be a consideration for certain, especially looking at Bradford right now.

Purely selfishly, I'd be pissed if Mallett turns pro after this season.

I wouldn't call that a strong QB class.

Don't forget Snead is eligible as well, but I think he'll come back for another year considering that QB class. If he came out in 2011 he'd probably be the no doubt no.1 overall pick.

Hiller and Devlin are both prototypical NFL type QBs. Both have physical assets NFL scouts will love. And both will draw the Flacco-esque comparisons. I could see both working their way into the first round with good to very good combines and pro days.

Bradford is a big QB with a good arm and quite a bit of collegiate success. If he comes back from the injury and shows he's healthy, he'll be a very high pick. McCoy is a bit short (6'4"), but has some nice physical tools. I could see him being the fourth QB selected out of that group.

I have no idea what to think of Tebow. I know what I think of him and what many others think of him, but will a team become enamored with his production and intangibles and decide they want to take a chance on him? There are plenty of highly respected NFL decision makers and former decision makers who have expressed their very strong interest in Tebow. He could also have a good to very good combine/pro day and vault up the board. Pat White was a second round pick, keep in mind, and Tebow is probably a better NFL prospect than him.

I actually forgot about Snead, but it depends on how Bradford looks after he gets back from his injury. He's likely the first QB off the board and if Snead enters the draft, Bradford is likely the only guy ahead of him. If Bradford isn't fully recovered, Snead could slide ahead of him.

If Snead stays, though, he and Mallet will be a nice duo at the top of the 2011 draft.

Like I said in an earlier post, a lot depends on how recovered Bradford shows himself. Mallet has better physical tools, but not by a huge margin. He's got a better arm (maybe much better), but Bradford is 6'4" - not particularly short. With a fantastic year, though, Mallet could vault ahead of all of these QBs.

I know he plays for ND, so he has to suck, but Clausen's going to be right there. Of course, if he keeps playing at the level he's played at thus far, he might go this year.

Since when is 6'4" a bit short for a QB?

It's not, I just don't know the difference between numbers apparently. McCoy is 6'2". Not real short, but scouts tend to prefer the 6'4" to 6'6" range.
