Damn it, UCLA starting QB is out 3-4 weeks with a fractured jaw suffered at the end of the Tennessee game. True freshman Richard Brehaut will have to take over; thankfully this week will be Kansas State but Brehaut might have to start at Stanford and at Oregon.

This week is a big week for Notre Dame. If they recover from a ridiculously tough loss, get their stuff together, play like the veterans they are, and pound MSU, things look a lot better. If not, things could unravel very, very quickly.

As for Ball State, if they don't beat Army, they may not win a game.

I like the CBSSports 120 poll in concept because it actually attempts to rank from 1-120, rather than support the idea that 25 teams are worth talking about at any given time. That said, I don't get this week's poll one bit.

It's good for poop and amusement, I guess.

If there are 120 teams in FBS and that's what they're ranking, how is Florida's SOS 121?

The only questions about Saturday's game is how reasonable can the defense keep the margin.

I think the defense will do a very admirable job against Florida and would likely support an offensive strategy of running the ball every play. We have 4 very good running backs - we might as well use them Saturday.

Win and drop out of the top 25 in one poll, but move up two spots to 25 in the other. Makes sense.

UNC dropped 5 spots for a road win over UConn. Oklahoma State is ranked ahead of a team it lost to last week. USC is somehow ranked behind two teams that have yet to play a competent football team. This is a very weird week in the polls.

Anyone else find it bizarre how many conference games we've had in the first 2 weeks (with more in week 3)?

What happened to 3 weeks of OOC first?

It's pretty normal for the SEC. UGA/SC have played week 2 for at least 2 seasons now and I think a few more. UT/UF always play week 3, LSU/Vandy always seem to play early in the year, etc.

They didn't the last two years but in 2004-06 Florida State and Miami played to start the year.
