Go Broncos!

This is the year WMU beats U of M.

Book it!

Coach DickRod apparently said today that Michigan plans on playing 3 quarterbacks in that game. That sounds like a recipe for a Western victory if ever I've seen one. I'll be hoping for some MAC pride in that matchup.

It doesn't make a whole lot of sense, and I wonder how much of it actually comes true. I guess we could see the 3rd guy get a play or two. Forcier and Robinson should see the bulk of the snaps, I guess he is worried about them and has Sheridan as the backup plan.

Forcier should get the bulk of the snaps. Denard probably comes in on short yardage or more run oriented plays along with series or 2. Sheridan has no business seeing seeing the field other than 1 series and holding the ball for the PAT.

I'm an ND fan who thinks 23 is about right. They have alot of returning players and a very soft schedule.Their talent is at wide receiver. The rest of the positions have players returning who have a ways to go. They came to ND highly rated, but haven't produced to their supposed talent level.

Of course Coach Lou has predicted a Florida/ND title game...

I saw that, it was funny and typical of something he would say. If ND did manage to go undefeated I still think a 1 loss, Texas, OU, OSU, Florida, Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Penn State, or USC would go in ahead of ND. Hell if BYU goes undefeated they will go ahead of ND too.

A 1 loss USC team couldn't possibly deserve to go ahead of an undefeated ND team that beat them.

Yet I'm not even sure that's the most ridiculous part of that post.

holy cross hosts georgetown at 1 pm. c'mon andy if you are going to list uc-davis i expect holy cross up there too!

plus we're picked first in the patriot league, have the two-time PL offensive player of the year returning (he was granted a medical redshirt for his 2005 season - everyone thought he was done after last year) and are ranked #22 in the preseason FCS. i'm going to see them play at bucknell this year, since it's only an hour east of where i'm living now.

Much apologies for the omission, sir. Southern Illinois (Flames's school) was also unintentionally omitted, I'm inserting their game as well.

Thanks..

I think we'll be competitive with Marshall, so that should be interesting. I'm expecting big things this year from SIU because we won the conference last year with a very young team and this year, we return almost our entire defense as well as the majority of our skill players on offense. Would be nice to finally win something in my last year here.

And like I said in the offseason thread; this has to be the year Illinois beats Missouri. If they don't...well, I don't know when it'll happen. Illinois' offense this year should be ridiculous if they just get a semblance of a ground game.

Hard to believe the first I-A games kick off in only two days. I'm ready.

Ball State, even replacing almost everybody on their offense and a good portion of their defense too, should still handle North Texas. The Mean Green were awful last year and probably won't be much better, while Ball State breaks in their new quarterback, Kelly Page, who was even more highly touted as a commit than Nate Davis was.

I'm starting to get excited. Michigan is going to suck, but I'm hoping they start taking a step back in the right direction. Rich Rod will finally have a couple of quarterbacks to run his system. I'm excited to see what they can do.

ND should smash them, honestly. If it's some middling victory and then they lose to Michigan I could see Weis being canned shortly thereafter.

I see them covering the spread, but I'd be a lot more inclined to pick an upset if the game weren't in South Bend. Still, Nevada can score points, I really hope they pull it off.

Yeah, the Pack can score big-time. If ND does 'smash' them, it will be something like 52-28 (Nevada's pass defense was last in I-A last year).

Nevada has a bit of a unique offense (the pistol), which could give ND some problems in stopping it early. That said, ND should end up winning.

OU tight end Jermaine Gresham will miss this week's game against BYU.

The Sooners are hoping that the injury is not serious and won't cost Gresham, who tweaked the knee in practice Tuesday, lost time beyond this week. The senior returned to the Sooners after strongly considering entering the NFL draft in April. He is the 14th-ranked NFL prospect in Scouts Inc.'s top 100.

Even though BYU is a pretty good mid-major, I can't imagine this having much of an effect on Saturday.

I saw these 4 games brought up as close calls to pick. What do you guys think?

Alabama v. Virginia Tech in Atlanta

Oregon at Boise State

Mizzou v. Illinois in St. Louis

Georgia at Oklahoma State

I'd go VTech, Oregon, Mizzou, and OSU.

I'd take:

Alabama - Should be close and low scoring. I don't think Evans will be a huge loss for VT, but Bama is a little better.

Boise State - Oregon is getting a little too much preseason love for a team with weaknesses on both lines. Boise also has less than spectacular lines, but the game is in Boise, and they don't lose there very often.

Illinois - Missouri loses Maclin, Coffman, Daniel, a lot of pretty good defenders, and both coordinators. Illinois still has a suspect D, but they won't need many stops.

Oklahoma State - I'm not that confident about this one. The deciding factor was that the game was in Stillwater.

Now I'm gonna head over to Jack Trice and see if ISU is capable of winning more than 2 games this year. North Dakota State is a decent I-AA/FCS team, but there's no excuse for a BCS team to lose to them. Since Iowa State's D is probably still awful it could be something like 38-24 ISU, but that's better than losing to UNI.
