Nothing better than Cardinal fans on our thread pretending to cheer for us.

If that is a reference to me, wise guy, then you are half right. I'm a fan of BOTH. Not that it's any of your business.

So you're not an actual fan

k

I guess I'm not. Not in your frame of reference. I don't live and die with either team. My sympathy's right now are with the Cubs. It's hard to watch sometimes (like this series)

Don't get on my case because you can't understand my way of thinking. I never got on you for yours.

Haha, yeah - we don't understand the fact that you can be a "fan" of two rival teams that are supposed to hate each other. Shame on us.

Actually makes perfect sense. Middle Illinois has a ton of split allegiances. What's weird about someone who likes both?

I have always liked a few certain Cubs players even if I like having the good natured rivalry with the evil Cubs. I almost always rootfor A Ram to do something great.

UMF....thanx for the tolerence. I don't understand the rivalry thing between the Cards/Cubs. The Yank/Sox thing I see. Giants/Dodgers I see. But there is virtually no history to support any real hatred between Cubs/Cards.

You have to go back to the 1800's to see any REAL rivalry. (I read up on it) If there is any team that I truly don't like it's the Dodgers and I really wanted the Cubs to take 3 of 4 and get back into this thing. I still think there's a lot of time left.

Just being close and the fact that the two have pretty much thrown the division title back-and-forth for nearly a decade. Yeah, I don't see how they're rivals...

Didn't mean to rip on you, but I've never ever heard of someone being both a Cubs/Cards fan. And that comes from someone that lives in split territory for most of the year.

If the Cubs/Cards rivalry isn't a "rivalry," I don't know what is.

Recent years, yes. I'm not so caught up in it, as I follow both. And my sympathy always lies with the underdog, which started out as the Cards this year, and has now swerved to the Cubs.

BTW, I'm also a Hawks/Bulls fan and a Rams/Cardinals fan.

I suppose you're also a Bears/Packers fan and Lakers/Celtics as well

You must be an old timer if you still have allegiance to the old St. Louis Hawks :)

The Cards are killing the Padres. 8 games back! Woo.

Watching the Cards get smoked in the playoffs by the Phillies then watching Holliday bolt for a major market team will be fun to see.

Do they still play the blues in Chicago

When baseball season rolls around?

When the snow melts away, do the Cubbies still play

in their ivy-covered burial ground?

When I was a boy they were my pride and joy,

but now they only bring fatigue

To the home of the brave, the land of the free,

and the doormats of the National League.

RIP Steve, your words still ring true some quarter-century after your death.

I'll tuck this bad ELO song here where no one will see it. A few games late, since pinch-hitting Miles for Gorzelanny 6th inning Thursday Aug 20 shortly followed by Guzman grand slam marked the end of the 2009 Cubs season and everyone knew it.

It's over, it's over, it's over

Summer came and passed away,

hardly seemed to last a day

but it's over and what can I do?

Music playin' in the air,

silence on a darkened stair

'cos it's over and what can I do?

It's over, it's over, all over,

it's all over now

and the way you looked don't even mean I'm down.

It's over

When you kick out the sea and the sun says goodbye

there is nothing much to speak of.

Feelin' down, down

it's all over.

Feelin' down, down, down.

Baby, baby, it's all gone,

rolled out to sea.

Lookin' over sunny days,

searchin' for the righteous wave

'cos it's over and what can I do?

Lookin' from this distant shore DISTANT SHORE

you ain't sailin' by no more

'cos it's over IT IS OVER and what can I do?

It's over, it's over, all over,

it's all over now

and the way you looked don't even mean I'm down. It's over, over, over,

when you kick out the sea and the sun says goodbye

there is nothing much to speak of.

Feelin' down, down,

it's over.

Feelin' down, down, down.

Ah, it's over, it's over, it's over,

it's all over and what can I do?

Ah, it's over, it's over,

it's all over.

Oh, it's over, it's over.

Don't shed a tear for me, it's over,

don't shed a tear although it's over.

Take it for what it is worth but ....

Matt Holliday enrolled his son in a St. Lois area school. Having his son go to one school has been his primary focus on his next contract. He will be a Cardinal next year.

The past 2 weeks the cardinals have not played great baseball. Pitching has been pretty good, but the lineup is hitting in the low .200's. The middle guys have not been tearing it up. Been winning with great pitching adn the Brendan Ryan's carrying the offense.

Do you think Albert will continue to struggle the rest of the way? I doubt it.

School starts these next few weeks for everyone, some already have. Was he supposed to let his kid take the first semester off until he decided where hes going to play next year?

No, but why would you added yet another school change. Why bring your family. Why not stay in the area you just settled into, until you decide where you are going to lay roots down.

Like I said, take it for what it is worth, but to completely dismiss it is wishful thinking on your part.
