Well the good news is at least we'll probably get some much needed changes in the offseason starting with the GM.

Keep thinking that.

Like I brought up in another thread, the new owners are unlikely to fire the GM when there's likely next to no payroll flexibility in the offseason. Why hire someone new if they can't do anything about the mess they inherit?

has anyone done any scouting of the phillies? pedro feliz has been in the league for like 10 years and he sits on first pitch fastballs on the inner half, why would you throw that pitch?

Looks like we can chalk this one up as a sweep. 2 struggling teams came together, and one rose up in a big way, and one fell even harder.

Come on, we lost our two best pitchers and our best hitter. How the Cards doing if they lose Carp and Wainwright and Pujols?

I'm so glad Hendry locked up Dempster for 4 years because he had great run support and just happened to start nearly every game at home last year, the place where the Cubs were unbeatable. Great move.

Because at somepoint there has to be accountability. Jesus, Hendry has to be fired for the past offseason.

One can hope, right?

I'm not sure how Hendry keeps getting a pass. He throws money around like it's candy and he almost always throws it at the wrong guys.

So that's seriously your reasoning for Dempster's success last year?

He's definitely overpaid, but he didn't have the year he did last year because of run support and "starting nearly every game at home."

Man we should have given Dempster more years. We gotta keep this guy around.

Hey, anytime you get a chance to lock up a guy who had one flukey good year after the age of 30 for the low, low price of just over $50 million cap-destorying dollars, you gotta take it.

That scenario is not a matter of him getting a pass: it's redundant to fire him, still have to pay him and hire and pay someone else when the replacement likely won't have the ability to make any significant changes for next season.

Those three are better than anyone on our team. And didn't Carp miss like a month this season?

And he's funny. Have you heard his Harry Carrey? I mean you don't see guys like Lowe doing that.

Well, it prevents the current GM for prolonging this mess. He's already tied up a ton of money for the next couple years. Keeping him around gives him the opportunity to mess up the years beyond that.

I do agree though that Hendry will most likely be back.

So. Who else is really looking forward to the Bears season?

Not the Bears, but I am looking forward to Husker football season. Can't be worse than this bleeping mess.

The big thing would be how they all got hurt at the same time for us.

Look at what the LA Angels have done this year with the injuries they've had playing in a tougher league. All teams have injuries, i'm sick of Lou and people using that as a crutch. All teams have them, deal with it. Blame Jim or Lou for not creating/maximizing their roster to deal with some adversity heaven forbid.

Why would Hendry have money to spend? He'd have his hands tied just as much by the all but frozen payroll the same as his replacement would.
