This is not what I wanted to hear.

Why not?

The possibility, however remote, of having to face Peavy in a World Series.

You're very odd.

I don't see why that's odd. Peavy on San Diego was completely nonthreatening unless we face him in the one series we have left with the Padres. Peavy on another contender means he could flare up in October.

Let's try:

A. Winning the division first;

B. Winning our NLDS first; and

C. Winning the NLCS first...

...before we worry baout who we are facing in the WS.

I am going to be so pissed if the Cubs face Peavy in the World Series. Oh wait, no I won't because that will mean the Cubs are in the World Series. How dumb of me for even thinking that. Sorry guys, nevermind.

This actually hurts the Sox in the short term, as Clayton Richard was in their starting rotation

Yeah, their pitching is going to be a mess until Peavy gets back, if he gets back this year.

Richard really hasnt been very good for them aside from the last 2 starts. They still have the same 1-4, and they can probably dig up a number 5 guy. Isnt Freddy Garcia still floating around their AAA team?

My thoughts exactly. I'd be happy to have to face Peavy, or anybody else for that matter, in the Series.

If we're going to get a big starter, wait until the offseason and see if the Jays lower their asking price for Halladay. Hopefully the sale of the team will be completed by then and we can actually be legitimate buyers then as well.

Why would the White Sox trade Peavy to the Yankees?

I'm not very hopeful that the Cubs are going to be buying much of anything for next year, as they have over 100 million being paid to 6 players.

People are acting like Clayton Richard is good?

He's terrible. He had an ERA of around 10 from the first of June until his two most recent starts.

Also, if the Cubs are facing Peavy in the World Series this year, I'd be ecstatic for two reasons:

1) The Cubs are in the World Series!

2) The good teams in the AL didn't make the World Series!

Yea so its going to be a mess as obviously the Sox feel Richard was their best option in that 5 spot. Now hes gone, and they have to put someone else in there who if they felt he was better than Richard, he probably would have already been up in place of Richard.

I guess Andy breaks out into hives and cold sweats over every big trade to an AL team.

Yes, Victor Martinez and Casey Kotchman have me quaking in my boots.

Don't Cubs still have a game to make-up against the White Sox? What if the division race is so close that it Cubs have to play that game and face Peavy?

Bigger question is, why are you wearing boots?

Kill me now that would be the worst thing that's ever happened to anything, in history. I don't even want to live anymore.

i would rather have not heard peavy went to the white sox. i dont see how what andy originally said was bad. all he said was it wasnt what he wanted to hear. i would much rather peavy still be a padre than white sox.
