Ummm wow

Not sure what to make of this, but SI's Jon Heyman tweeted that Padres pitcher Jake Peavy was dealt to the White Sox again. Heyman is not sure if Peavy OK'd it. He says the Padres get minor leaguers. Peavy is currently recovered from a torn ankle tendon.

Isn't he still on the DL?

That's what I thought...

He hasn't pitched in a major league game since June 8. He can't be traded without approval from the commissioner's office.

If he didn't approve it when he was healthy, why would he approve it when he's injured?

Maybe hes realized staying in SD is pointless, sees how close the Sox are to the playoffs, and thinks he can make a difference. Early on in the season when the deal was made nobody really knew if the Sox would contend or not.

Now he can go watch the Cubs play while not pitching for the Sox.

because he was waiting for better offers that never came.

On 15-day DL since the 13th, so couldn't they pull him off the DL and then trade him?

Yes

The White Sox would have to put him right back on the DL then if they ever want him to do minor league rehab. I doubt they're going to stick him on the mound in a major league game after being out of action for nearly two months.

Sure...but that's feasible right? SD removes him from the DL, trades him, and WS immediately DL him.

It is possible to trade players while they are on the DL. Freel was on the Orioles' DL when they traded him to the Cubs.

This is not what I wanted to hear.

Why not?

The possibility, however remote, of having to face Peavy in a World Series.

You're very odd.
