100 ABs isn't enough to say definitively, but Jake Fox is starting to win me over in the "is he legit?" argument.

He hasn't really had a prolonged period of ineffectiveness, his 7 HRs are spaced out pretty evenly, he seems to have enough of a plate discipline to work the count in his favor consistently. The strange thing is he has a pretty big reverse split going so far, hitting lefties at a .809 clip and righties at a .967 but that has to be attributed to sample size. I wish we could find a permanent position for him and see if he has a little Fontenot Syndrome in him or not, but for this year's club, he is actually quite valuable in his current role.

I think Soriano would be the better call here.

As long as we don't trade a productive starter away and give him a starting job based only on his super-sub performance a la Fontenot, I'm more than happy with him. He's been nails.

no reason not to go with soriano there

I agree with you but Lou has consistently not used his best available PHers earlier in the game.

Here comes Heilman to pull a Howry.

I always feel like we're going to lose tie games on the road late... wish baker would have come through there

remember the daryle ward monster homer?

that was like, the best thing ever, i think that was a harden start too

We were actually losing that game though...

I don't believe Fontenot led the world in HR/OPS when called up from the minors. Fox's power is for real. The fact that he's doing this in limited duty is staggering. His HR/AB is incredible. I'd almost be willing to move Soriano to 2nd to get his bat in the lineup. Almost.

Cards just got pretty lucky. Lugo was meat at 3rd trying to stretch a double and the ball pegged him in the back about 12 feet from the bag. Then of course Holliday knocked him in.

You can't make any of that stuff up.
