Hey, that's my line. :D

First place, just in time for my annual three-day trip to Wrigley. I love it.

How the hell are we in 1st place?

Because we play in the worst division in baseball - that's how.

True, but: especially for the first 6-8 weeks, off-season acquisitions performed horribly; we lost ARam for what, 40+ games, DLee looked finished until something like late May, injury to Soto (who also sucked for much of the first half), Dempster injured, Lilly now injured. This team has needed to overcome a lot. Regardless of the division, it's amazing the Cubs occupy 1st. Maybe in some ways, the CUBS are the ones with the pixie dust?

The AL Central would probably have something to say about that. And the NL east besides Philly is mediocre to horrible.

Thats not true

I'm going to assume that you're going to tell me that AL Central is worse,?

AL Central and NL East. Outside of Philly, Id take the Cubs, Cards, Milw, and maybe Houston over any team in that division.

We've actually got a better winning percentage against the NL East (.588) than the NL Central (.562). Obviously we've won more games against the Central, but we've handled the Eastern teams slightly better to this point.

I talked about this yesterday, but imagine this...

One year ago today, the Cubs fell into a tie with the Brewers for first place in the Central.

One year later, the Cubs are up 0.5 games in the NL Central, meaning that we are actually doing better at this point in the season than last year!

yeah, the NL central isn't that bad. the pirates are bad, the reds are pretty bad, but the other teams are average to a little above average. there just aren't any really good teams.

the AL central (two teams that really suck, two average teams, one slightly above average team) is definitely worse.

Sorry for being absent from the game threads this past weekend, but I was enjoying the view of our sweep from the left field bleachers.

Even from my view, Harden was absolutely disgusting yesterday. Watching him throw in the outfield before the game, you could see Larry smiling and nodding a lot watching him toss. Seriously having ARam back is better than the Cards with Holliday and if Soto looks good, we have the best lineup in the Central.

Only downside was we were hoping they'd change the flags above the scoreboard before we left \:D/
