If we're going to moralize about how pot declines athletes' performances, I'd like to make the claim that Mark Grace would have been a first ballot Hall of Famer if he didn't go through a pack of Winstons a game.

Have you ever swung at a fastball in the dirt?

Have you ever swung at a fast ball in the dirt...on weed?

Good one!

My heart skipped a beat when I read the headline "Geovany Soto test positive for.........

.........Oh God, this crappy season is about to get worse........

marijuana."

Oh. Well that's not so bad.

Same. I was like "Oh crap last season was roid f.....oh. It's weed. I don't care"

Seriously, NBA players dont seem to have much trouble running up and down the court, and pretty sure most of that league smokes weed.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, too... and I'm feeling a little guilty that I find this pretty hilarious. Was he hanging out with Michael Phelps?

How many really good players are and have been alcoholics? How many good pro athletes smoke weed? Why should I care about this? Oh wait, I don't.
Posted

Yeah, I can't figure out one good reason why anybody should care. Weed stopped being a big deal to me when I turned 14.

For the record, I don't smoke the stuff. Don't like it. But I certainly will never judge anybody who does.

I'll judge them a little, but I'm just that kind of guy.

But I already know that most athletes aren't my kind of people, so this doesn't bother me.

Surprised so many people are fine with this.

I just really, really don't care. it's not like he got caught on camera at a frat party hitting a bong and looking like a [expletive]. He did something in (obviously) relative privacy and clearly not during the playing season that may/maynot be illegal in puerto rico or wherever he was at the time.

I don't really think it's possible for me to care much less about it.

It just doesn't matter to me. I really don't care what players do in their private life unless it's something dangerous or evil.

You guys are missing the point on this completely. You're turning it into an argument about the legality/morality of weed, when in reality, the issue here is Geo's apparent lack of responsibility as a young player. No one cares about that? Ok.

One person said something about the legality of weed.

We just don't care that Geo likes to smoke during the offseason. He's a beast.

I haven't missed any point, my definition of responsibility differs from yours...
