Really, these I-told-you-so threads need to stop. People are complaining about the atmosphere of the board lately, and I-told-you-so's are unnecessary and don't help.

This is not an "I told you so thread". This is simply a restatement of what I said earlier in the year, a prediction I made in late April that I was lambasted on.

hahahahahah

Fukudome is really tanking now, again. His average is down to .259 and his OPS is under .800.

What a disgustingly overpaid outfield. Jesus

Unfortunately, now that Reeds down theres nobody else who can play center, so were kind of stuck with him unless they want to chance Sam Fuld, So Taguchi, or someone else *cough*JimEdmonds*cough*

Well there was a lot of nonsense on here about how Fukudome had "figured something out" when I think people who don't just see what is the best interpretation for the Cubs knew this was going to happen.

As a hitter he's like a worse, more strikeout prone version of Scott Hatteberg. And he's making $12 million a year.

i dont understand how the guy can be good for the first month and a half 2 years in a row and then be horrible afterwards.

Co-query.

Basically, the only really bad contracts the Cubs have are in the outfield. These guys make about $23 billion between the three of them and we can't count on any kind of consistent production.

It wasn't nonsense. He clearly had made some adjustments in his approach at the plate. His swing wasn't as "wild," or whatever anyone wants to call it. He seem to be timing his swing better and planting his foot before following through, cutting down on the "Fukucopter." It would still show up at times when he struck out, but by and large he clearly improved his hitting with how he was driving the ball much more.

It really doesn't make any sense. Last year it definitely was a case of the league figuring him out, but this year it seems more like he's allowed his approach to regress to what it was last year.

Just because Fuku adjusted to the league doesn't mean the league won't re-adjust to him. Sadly, he seems to be the type of player who can only adjust while it's the offseason. Unless he changes, we should probably get used to this.

However, I really don't think he's as bad as his June numbers have been.

Good news is he's still drawing walks. His obp is still around .390 so he's not completely useless at this point.

And it would have been a tick higher if the home plate ump didn't have dinner reservations last night.

I agree that pitchers can readjust to him, but he's so obviously gone back to his old approach as opposed to sticking with the changes and not getting results.

I honestly don't see why it has to be explained. Is it that unusual for a guy to have two hot streaks and some long cold streaks over a season and a half? And if so, is it that unusual for both hot streaks to happen at the same point in the calendar?

Could easily just be a fluke.

We need Adam Dunn immeadietly if not sooner.

who exactly are you benching to get Mr. Dunn into the lineup?

Can I choose more than one?

LOL, yeah. Can he play all three positions and bat three times?

Why, Mike Fontenot of course.

Hey, it would be fun to watch. The same kind of "fun" that attracts viewers to NASCAR crashes, err, I mean races.

Soriano to 2B. Dunn to LF.

Done. (pun intended)

I dont usually complain about defense - but that would be hilariously bad.

Maybe, but with the way we are hitting I think going defense first is putting the cart before the horse.
