I've been willing to give Bradley a lot of slack this season, but man....awfully tough to be positive about his contract right now.

Has anyone grown frustrated of the apparent fragile-ness of baseball players most especially this year' Cubs? I certainly have, seriously, I never seen a group of players get hurt so often by simply breathing.

Does it help to imagine how difficult it will be for him to guarantee that third year?

A little, I guess.

It won't be difficult at all.

There is essentially zero chance that the third year doesn't vest.

maybe he tore his calf and is gone for the year

75 G? All he needs is 75 games this year? What kind of condition is that?

We know you're a terrible hitter, so we're going to protect ourselves. Your 2011 option only vests if you get at least 3 hits during the 2009 season. Ha.

Thank Lou for all of those worthless PH appearances he gave Bradley while Bradley was nursing his previous ouchie.

Not gonna matter. He's not going to clear it by 3 games.

Seems like we sorta knew this guy was made of glass before he was signed. It's crazy talk to complain about him now.

Just put him on the damn DL already. He could use a break.

It really would have made so much more sense to get Adam Dunn or Bobby Abreu on a 2 year deal than Bradley. We kne Bradley would play 100 games at most, but for some reason, Hendry and Lou prefered the flashier troubled Bradley. Its like the Taming of the Shrew of baseball.

Jake Fox

The thing is that I wonder if he'll still be as hot as he was after all he hasn't swung a bat for ages.

There were 2 opportunites to pinch him last night. Unfortunately, having Bobby Scales bunt seemed like a better idea at the time. Silly Lou.

What are his contract details in terms of bonus money? Doesn't he have to play in a certain amount of games to get a decent kick in pay? He's already making a lot and if he doesn't stay healthy and produce it should be one and done for him. They can't invest money in someone who can't be counted on. They are already doing that with Soriano.

They can and they did. In fact, Hendry does it all the time.

Let's go ahead and lose 100 games and finally get rid of him. Please.

They've already invested the money into him. Here are the numbers according to Cot's: 09:$5M, 10:$9M, 11:$12M option. He also got a $4 million signing bonus.

The option vests if he plays in 75 games this season. Outside of his rookie year, there's only one season (2007) when he hasn't played at least 75 games.

Under his current contract he gets 10 million a year. We're about a third of the way through the season, so lets just say he has earned 3 million so far.

5 HR, 14 RBI. That money is really paying off. $600,000 for each HR and $215,000 for each RBI.

edit: well I guess he only gets 5 million this year...but you get my drift.

It's actually $5M, $9M and $12M in each season. And then a $4 million signing bonus.

So we're paying him $5 million this season.
