What kind of closer quality pitchers are out there for the Cubs to look at in July?

 

Please don't say Kerry Wood.

That sounds like a deal Hendry might make. Let Wood go and get his big contract, then trade for him at a larger salary than what he would have taken to stay with the Cubs in the first place.

I don't think there'd be much of a difference in performance compared to the pen right now if the Cubs cobbled together a bullpen out of the guys in AA and AAA.

You're surprised? I'd have been surprised if Francouer didn't homer there.

 

I guess I'm trying to be a little more optimistic than that...

 

I've tried. But getting kicked in the nuts for 6 months per year for the last 20+ years tends to kill any optimism.
