Wichita State?

As per the mock selection, Wichita State, not Northern Iowa, won the MVC tourney, so UNI would have to then make it as an at-large selection. Since Butler/Gonzaga/Cornell won their respective theoretical tourneys, they aren't in the at-large pool at all.

Also, Northern Iowa, Richmond, Rhode Island and UNLV were voted in on the latest vote. 27 of 35 at large teams spoken for (with a possibility that some of them will win their auto bids).

I'm having a hard time figuring Baylor being that safe a pick, especially when I didn't see Mizzou's name mentioned for those votes.

I'm bestowing the sulleymon memorial 'chucker' moniker on Seton Hall, and of course they're making everything they toss up.

Well they have to do something to combat Harangody's get your crap packed, yet throw your arms up and you get to shoot two free throws anyway. Enjoy these last 5 games Luke.

You haven't watched ND once this year. Harangody's been shooting jumpers like crazy. If he actually employed that strategy we might not be on the bubble right now.

And if Luke Harangody got half the calls a certain other undersized white forward got his entire 4 year career got he'd be shattering scoring records.

I don't have the numbers in front of me, but Mizzou's RPI was a lot lower than Baylor's last I saw.

I've been watching this game. There were three pays in a row where he got the benefit of the doubt on calls. One was the charge where he was moving.

Also heard Brey say he was the best player ever at Notre Dame. That's offensive.

He does seem to get those calls. But he gets less than his share - in my biased opinion - of the ones you're referring to, when he's on offense.

I'm not sure why he gets so many of them, I guess the refs are anticipating a lot.

Jesus, there is no team we can't make look good on offense. I wish ND would play Ball State just to see how bad a team has to be on offense and not score big points on the Irish.

Tim Higgins is reffing this game, so all bets are off.

RPI isn't considered by the committee. They have pretty much identical resumes. Beat a decent BCS school and good mid major and lost to an okay team in the non-con, beat OSU, lost to KU and aTm. Baylor beat Texas but Mizzou beat KSU. Baylor has one fewer loss and a better SOS, but they are really pretty similar for who they've beaten and lost to. Mizzou is 14 in Pomeroy, 17 in Sagarin; Baylor is 16 in Pomeroy, 13 in Sagarin.

Seton Hall is now 11/17 from 3-point range. Jeremy Hazell has 30 points on 9 [expletive] shot attempts. If you're not supposed to make the tourney, you're not supposed to make the tourney.

The committee currently has 31 at-large teams selected at this point:

BYU, Duke, Georgetown, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Michigan State, New Mexico, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Syracuse, Temple, Tennessee, Texas, Vanderbilt, Villanova, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Baylor, Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, Wake Forest, N Iowa, UNLV, Rhode Island, Richmond, Dayton, Maryland, Clemson and Illinois

They seeded two lines so far:

1 seeds (in order): Kansas, Syracuse, Kentucky, Villanova

2 seeds (in order): Purdue, Georgetown, Duke, West Virginia

Odd to me Missouri, Xavier, St. Mary's not in the field yet, but they're on the short list for the remaining spots now.

Five teams to complete the committee's at large pool (for now): Xavier, Missouri, Florida State, Ole Miss, Marquette.

Outside the field (for now): St. Mary's, UConn, ND, Louisville, USF, Cincy, UNC, Florida, and the entire Pac-10.

Yea NCAA really needs to expand the tournament field...

Most of those teams are trash

The depth of college basketball have been pretty bad the last couple of years. Expanding the tournament wouldn't really be productive when you'd be including a couple more Pac-10 teams and mediocre Big East teams in the field.

Anthony Tucker will be released from his scholarship at Iowa today. He led them in scoring as a freshman last year before being found passed out in an alley and then being academically ineligible for the 2nd semester. This year he was arrested for public intox again after a drunken argument with a cabbie.

Overall I think it's a positive if they replace him with Kaylon Williams though. He led the MVC in assists as a freshman at Evansville last year and would be the best defender on the team immediately. He's from Cedar Rapids and transferred from Evansville to a local JUCO with the hopes of moving up this year.

Mock committee is back in action this morning. More "results" in from conference tourneys, opening up 3 at large spots. They voted St. Mary's, Charlotte and South Florida into those 3 spots, with Florida on the line waiting on one last result. Either Florida or Virginia would be the last spot.

the whole season has been underwhelming. For the first time in forever I'm not terribly excited about the tourney.

In other news, PSU hosts MSU, so any worries that they might be winning a conference game can be put to rest
