College Basketball season is being postponed this year.

Just the one year?

Eh, I'm fairly optimistic Iowa can be middle of the conference in '10-'11. Cole will be a senior, Gatens, Tucker and Fuller will be juniors, Payne, May and Cougill will be sophs and they have a pretty decent recruiting class coming in. Not amazing but Larson is a top 100 kid, McCabe had a bunch of nice offers and I think Brust could be a piece off the bench right away.

I think they can make a run at the tournament next year.

The Big Ten is going to be loaded then. Look at some of the recruiting classes teams have lined up. UI and OSU could both be top 5 teams that year, with Minnesota, MSU, and Purdue all really good as well.

I can't believe we aren't in the top 25. We lost mid major talent, according to the experts, from our team last year and added three 4 stars. If we were top 25 last year, I don't get how we aren't now.

The AP poll is out.

MSU 2

Purdue 7

Michigan 15

OSU 17

Minnesota 18

Illinois 27

I can't help but think overrated when I look at Michigan at 15.

I don't think it's out of the question that they're going to be in the top 20 this season. They're returning everyone from last year's team, including Manny Harris and DeShawn Sims who both should dominate this season. It should be a good season for Michigan, as long as injuries don't pile up.

Agreed, Manny Harris is very good. The Wolverines will be a good team again this year.

ND got some votes, but even though Seth Davis likes our team, I think that the Scott Martin ACL tear is going to end up costing us an NCAA bid.

Who voted UNC #1????

Some people alway vote for the last years champion until the season starts.

Well only one guy did that, it still doesn't quite explain why they're ranked 4th.

They are still going to be very good. They return Ed Davis and The other big, who's name is eluding me, and have a really good recruiting class. Plus everyone is saying that college bball is down this year.

edit: Dion Thompson.

Don't forget Tyler Zeller.

Yeah, they are still going to be very, very good. Guard play has some questions, but I still think they will be a legit final four contender.

Hey, Mizzou is #32. Neat.

Didn't they lose most of their team?

Carroll, Lyons, and Lawrence, or in other words, their frontcourt. They'll be really guard heavy, and how good they end up being will depend on how guys like Safford and Bowers respond to more minutes.

I just don't get Cal being the top-ranked team in the Pac-10. Sure, they have great guard play but their front court is softer than...something very soft.

29 isn't bad for UCLA.

Agreed, UNC will be a top-10 team. I personally favor Duke for the ACC title, but it's close. Ed Davis is going to be really, really good.

Illinois should be in the top-25. Surprised they're not. Maryland probably should be as well.

I'm a little lost on Kentucky and Texas. How can they be unranked and 23rd respectively to end last year and then debut in the top 5 when there are teams behind them that return practically everyone? I don't understand that. If a team that finishes last season ranked 15 and returns everyone of importance plus has a good recruiting class how can they be behind a team that finished ranked below them?

Kentucky is the one that bothers me most. They didn't even make the tourny last year nor win the NIT and yet they are top 5? Goes to show you how stupid the media is.

John Wall is very, very good (if he is allowed to play). It's not just a matter of who returns but who else you add.

Kentucky also has an absurd freshman class coming in and way underperformed their talent level last year.

Georgia Tech being ranked at all is kinda ridiculous though. They were just a terrible basketball team last year, I don't think Derrick Favors and a decent supporting cast of freshmen makes them a tourney team.

I agree and that is why they should go from unranked and barely a .500 team to ranked in the 15-20 range. To me the top 5 is reserved for the teams who played close or at that level the year before and return a lot. The top 5 is not for a team that has been mediocre for years now and get a great recruit who no one really knows how good he will be because he has yet to play. They are top 5 simply because they have been talked about all off-season.
