For God's sake, Brey, shut up. Try winning some damn games against the Big East and stop complaining about the schedule before you take potshots at other conferences.

Jesus, Brey. You already play one of the easiest non-conference schedules year in and year out and you still find a way to choke away NCAA bids, yet you still take shots at other conferences? The guy sure has brains.

He's not getting any smarter, either. Other than our home game against UCLA this year and a small tournament we're playing jack crap again. He honestly thinks the Big East schedule is more than enough to get us a bid every year. If we'd played anybody, anyone at all, two years ago when we were 14-4 in the Big East we'd have probably gotten a top 3 protected seed, but his horrid nonleague schedule dropped us to a 5 and a horrible matchup with Wazzu in round 2. I'm as big a Big East fanboy as anybody, but it's just not enough. This guy doesn't remotely seem to have what it takes to win big here.

If Digger Phelps could make us a consistent Sweet 16 team I don't see why we can't get someone who will take us back to that level, and Brey ain't it.

Kevin O'Neill has been hired at USC. Never have been real impressed by him.

I'm just relieved they didn't step up to get Dixon when they had their chance.

SpongeWorthy, I hear Mike Garrett will be retiring after this year.

maybe dixon just likes it in pittsburgh.

He probably does (it's a great job) but I've heard from reliable people that he would like to move back to LA. His family still lives here, he and his wife are from here, etc.

O'Neill is an extremely underwhelming hire. Dixon was a pipe dream. He's already at a big time program. Why would he want to go to a 2nd fiddle program (2nd fiddle in both the city and university) with possible sanctions on the way? Not to mention a school that has lost almost every significant contributor and recruit.

Only when she deserves it, like going to the bar pregnant.

Elliot Williams is transferring away from Duke to be closer to his home (Memphis). The reason is an undisclosed family medical reason. This is a shame on a lot of levels. One, he was my favorite player on the team last year and seemed like a great guy. I hope everything ends up well for him.

This leaves two scholarship guards on Duke next year: Jon Scheyer and Nolan Smith. Singler is going to have to start at the 3 and maybe even see some time at shooting guard (!). Smith has a problem with picking up cheap fouls so it will be interesting to see. Duke really needed to get Wall or to keep Henderson, even before this news. The 2010-2011 team should be really good, but next year will be very down. Duke has played small for the last several years and Singler had been the starting center in a lot of their games. It will be an interesting team to watch this year, with 6 players that should play as a power foward or center and only two guards. I really wish Seth Curry was eligible this year.

Lineup

PG: Smith/Scheyer

SG: Scheyer/Singler

SF: Singler/Kelly

PF: Thomas/Mason Plumlee

C: Zoubek/Miles Plumlee

Jeff Jordan is leaving the Illinois Basketball team. He will remain at Illinois as a student.

This really surprises me. I am guessing he saw that he was not going to get much playing time in the coming years and decided to focus on his studies. Best of luck to him in the future and I will miss seeing him in Orange and Blue.

Wow. Did not see that coming at all, I thought he had a chance at starting at least early in the nonconference.

ETA: Not to say this is a bad thing, this could mean Bruce let him know where he'd be on the depth chart and Jeff didn't see it as worth it. If the freshmen have passed him up, then this is good news. Maybe Jeff just got sick of the grind. He knows he has no future as a basketball player, adn doesn't need to be a college basketball player to be a BMOC. He was on an academic scholarship, so maybe he just really wants to focus on his studies.

Klee made it sound like it was more to do with his internship with NIKE not giving him the time he needed to focus on basketball. That's too bad, I enjoyed watching him play.

DJ's gotta be a dead lock for starting lineup now for his defense.

I think he was going to be anyway. Bruce loves his attitude.

I thought there was a chance due to "familiarity with the motion" that he might have wound up off the bench for the first half of the year. Now there's no choice.

I thought Bertrand was a for sure redshirt but I think he might get to see the floor some next year. In my opinion that is a very good thing. I love his high flying, fast paced, creative game he just needs to get more comfortable in the half court.

I think Bertrand was not pushed like he should have been in high school. I'm excited to see him play this year.

Jordan leaving was the best thing to happen to the U of I, Weber should be thankful he likely talked Jordan out of that scholarship. It's an unethical way of doing things, but every program does when there are worse players taking scholarships away from better players who now can be recruited with that spot opening up.

I believe Pocius still has another year of eligibility.

Jordan was on academic scholarship up until midway through this past season. He was given the basketball scholarship as a reward for his hard work(opening up certain things such as free training room use among other things). It was understood when the scholarship moved to basketball that after this season he would no longer be on basketball scholarship due to already committed players.
