Jereme Richmond is going to the same prep school that D.J. Richardson went to.

I like this.

Yep, going to a place with a much better coach than he had in Waukegan.

I'm more concerned with him playing top level talent every game, so he can come in and be a beast from day 1.

I don't think that is as big an issue now as it used to be because of the AAU tournys. It won't hurt either though.

I admit to not having seen AAU basketball,(at least in its current form) but I think of it as more of a showcase for talents, than a teaching exercise in the game of basketball. Playing team basketball against top competition is I think a much better learning environment than AAU.

This is definitely a stereotype, and possibly a misrepresentation of AAU ball though.

No, your pretty right on. Unfortunately it seems most kids prefer the AAU season now though to the real thing. But still he is getting the chance to play as good as it gets during the summer.

I'm just going to throw all my thoughts in one post. It seems to me like Henley could be a Roger Powell type. Nice midrange game, and an instinctive rebounder.

I'm sure playing with Mike Shaw will help his ranking a lot. There was a nice write up on Shaw in the tribune a few days ago. Here is the link: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-talk-mcgrath-shawmay26,0,4153315.story

I know UK doesnt mind getting their hands dirty to win, but this has some eerie parallels to the Sampson situation at IU. Cal should not have to cheat to win at UK, so I think they will be ok. But as we saw with Sampson it can be hard for a serial cheater to resist the urge. Also in reading the papers from Memphis, I am surprised by the level of surprise over the charges. Anyone with half a brain knew they were cheating, and it was only a matter of time before getting pinched. This was more inevitable than it was surprising IMO.

Actually, it appears that there is very little wrong with the Memphis program at all. The worst of the problems are with the women's golf coach. With men's basketball, Rose may have had his brothr take the SAT for him in Chicago, before he committed to Memphis. Memphis wouldn't have anythign to do with it, and the NCAA clearinghouse verified the score, so there likely wouldn't be any real "punishment" of the program (and they've already said Calipari had nothing to do with it regardless) except to declare Rose ineligible after the fact, worst case scenario. That would vacate the 07-08 season, but wouldn't have any restrictions placed on the program, and wouldn't constitute a violation on Memphis' part.

The guy who flew on the charter plane actually got a bill from Memphis for the travel, according to the memphis consitution, and the NCAA found out about it because they saw Memphis' follow-up letters asking for payment, which again appears to be no issue other than the guy not paying all of his bills(he paid for other trips with the team).

Not that it's okay for a kid to have someone else take his SAT, but it's not a Memphis Basketball Program issue- it's a Derrick Rose issue.

Now the women's golf coach...that lady is screwed.

I think you are right, but I doubt that Cal wants any kind of investigating going on as to how his program was ran the past 5 years.

Tim Floyd resigns at USC

hopefully the dirty laundry is soon to follow

The dirty laundry won't be released until Pete Carroll resigns from USC.

Jamie Dixon is USC's leading candidate to replace Floyd. I'm going to be so pissed if USC comes out of all this with 20 times the coach Floyd is.

I don't see a coach of Dixon's caliber coming to USC knowing what's hanging over the program in ways of possible sanctions and other NCAA scrutiny.

As if people in Pittsburgh need another reason to hate LA.

Former Illini Star Frank Williams was busted with over 75 grams of weed and a handgun.

Why in the hell does anyone carry around 3 ounces of weed? You can't smoke that much in a week if you're an enormous pothead.

It was acutally at a house, not in a car or whatever. He also had a digital scale, you put 2 and 2 together why he has that much....

Damion James withdrew from the NBA draft today and is heading back to Texas. This could put Texas in the Top 5 now for the preseason polls and actually give Kansas some competition this season in the Big 12.

the game between those two could be epic this year.

If the Texas freshman play like the Kansas freshman last year it could be. They also need Jai Lucas to play well at the point. I think this could be a big year for Dexter Pittman assuming he doesn't balloon up in the offseason.

Frankie should still be playing in the league. What a waste of talent. Hopefully he can get his life turned around soon.

Jamie Dixon is USC's first choice. They are trying to negotiate with him and if that falls through, then they'll look at other candidates.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Notre Dame Mike Brey joked Tuesday that he knows of a surefire way to make certain the Fighting Irish don't have another midseason swoon like last season.

"If we could play in the Big Ten, maybe that would help us a little bit," he said.

Mike Brey against the Big Ten last year? 1-2 (The 1 against IU.)

lol - as if I needed another reason to hate notre dame.
