Hey dew: great pick for you guys, and outstanding value at No. 16.

Yeah, I definitely think they wanted JPP, but when the Giants took him the easy pick was Derrick Morgan. I'm thrilled with the pick and very intrigued to see what we do with our pair of third round picks.

Also, let's all, in unison, point and laugh at the Jags.

I still have no clue what they were thinking with that pick. They easily could have traded down and gotten Alualu easily, I think.

Yeah, to reiterate what Sponge said, not only do I think they thought his style was a little too similar to Sproles, but I think the bigger question with Best was his durability.

It stings to lose that second rounder when they still have that glaring hole at DT, but I think they definitely got the right guy they needed at RB. I still think AJ can swing a deal (Merriman?) to get a second round pick tonight.

I guess I just like the RB depth more than the Chargers do. Somebody like Montario Hardesty or Toby Gerhart or even Anthony Dixon would be a nice compliment to Sproles without giving up the extra pick. If they can get a 2nd rounder for Merriman, though, this is all a bit of a moot point.

As to Hughes, evidently they are going to use him in the "Joker" role a la Raheem Brock (outside on rushing downs, inside on passing downs). That means they expect to play Freeney, Mathis, and Hughes together on certain downs.

As a Titan fan, I don't like that. That'll be a really hard defensive line to block.

It makes me glad we have Fisher, Munchak and a terrific offensive line.

could Jon Asamoah fall to the bears? and if he does, do they take him?

Unless the Jags move up to overdraft him, I could definitely see him being there. There hasn't been much buzz around Asamoah that I've heard.

he was a top 15 pick a few months ago, the best guard available.

I'm still ecstatic over the Cowboys getting Bryant.

If we could get Morgan Burnett in the second, the draft will get even better. We need to add some depth on the OL. Is there a chance John Jerry could slide into the fourth?

They may have to trade up into the second round, but generally guards don't go off the board very fast. The top couple generally go off quickly (Iupati and Poucey this year) and then the rest tend to linger. I don't want to say he'll be there for sure, but there hasn't been that much buzz recently.

Similarly to Asamoah, guards don't tend to go off the board fast after the first couple. I really like Jerry, but I saw a mock a couple days ago that had him going to the Titans in the 6th round. So who knows?

john jerry isn't even a top 5 guard. asamoah is the best of the rest on everyone's list.

I've seen him as a top 5 guard - for example. A little bit of guards is what the team's o-line preference is. The Colts won't have much interest in John Jerry because he's a huge mauler and they prefer smaller, quicker guards. The Titans, on the other hand, will have him much higher on the board because they love the big, powerful linemen. It's similar to other positions, but more magnified, I think.

It makes it much harder to predict where guards will go in the draft. Our first mock, for instance, had Jerry go before Asamoah, but it wouldn't surprise me that much to see Asamoah go before Jerry.

My thoughts on the first round:

Best value: Kyle Wilson at 29 to the Jets

Worst value: Tyson Alualu at 10 to the Jags

Biggest surprise: Tebow to the Broncos. I thought he'd go in the first round, but didn't expect it to be the Broncos.

Reaches: Alualu, Mathews (mainly because they traded up too much), Graham (again, plenty of good rushers, no need to give up extra picks), Kareem Jackson, Tebow

Values: Morgan, Bulaga, Dan Williams, Wilson

The Lions also had a really good first round, I think. Suh and Best is a nice first day haul.

1. I think the Titans will be happier with Morgan and they lucked out by not taking JPP. He just seems like a high risk/high reward guy that could very easily bust. Morgan will be good, I'm sure.

2. Alualu was a guy I thought could potentially be there for the Colts in the second round. And he went No. 10. To the Jags, haha. (No one in the AFC South likes them, right?)

That's the plan: hard to (pass) block. The Colts defense is pretty much predicated on just that. Hopefully it'll work out like I/they suspect/hope.

Schefter reporting that the Browns and Bills both looking to trade up to the 33rd pick today. My guess is the Browns would be after McCoy, who they are rumored to really like, and the Bills would be after Clausen.

I didn't want to even to start a new thread, so I am including it in here, but Skip Bayless on ESPN's First Take (or First and 10, whatever it's called) just said the Broncos took Tim Tebow to win the division. Bayless thinks Tebow will have that impact this year. He also said San Diego should be looking over their shoulders because Denver took Tebow. I couldn't help but laugh at the pure stupidity that is Skip Bayless. I agree with Jeremiah in that San Diego will not be looking over their shoulder because one of their chief rivals took a QB who is most likely going to be the 3rd string QB/h-back/TE with their first rd pick. Oh Skip, stop blowing Tebow.

Best Value- Agreed. Kyle Wilson. If you have the Jets on the schedule...work on your wishbone formation, because you aren't throwing the ball on them.

Other values: Dan Williams, Bulaga, Dez Bryant

Worst Value- Tyson Alualu. While I like him, Jags could have had him w/ their 2nd round pick and Dan Williams is much better.

Other reaches- Ryan Matthews, Tim Tebow, Devin McCourty

Thought the Seahawks had a great day. They got 2 starters and what some had as the best OL and the best FS in the draft.

Broncos have huge balls. Tebow and Thomas over Bryant and Clausen will be this regimes legacy.

49ers doubling up on OL surprised me. Lions trading up to take Best when the teams between them (Colts, Saints, Rams) were clearly not going to take him and were not likely to trade down.

Well, I guess Clausen and Tate will both go early tomorrow. Maybe someday I'll root for someone who won't swan dive down the 1st round. So annoying.

i'm truly sorry you had to go through this.

You sure about that? Maybe I missed it but I never once heard him ranked ahead of Iupati and don't remember ever seeing him in the top 15.

FYI both McShay and Kiper have him going to the Eagles in the 2nd round either at 37 or 55.

After that 2nd mock draft I didn't think there was a chance in hell that would happen in the 1st and 2nd rounds. I am beyond happy after just 1 pick.

Just read he is going to be wearing #88. Expectations are going to be high from the beginning.

They don't have a 2nd rd pick which is why they took him at 10. They figured he wouldn't last till their third. Still incredibly stupid. So many teams traded up so they could have traded down 2-3 times and loaded up on picks while still getting their guy.

Right now would be a good time for a MK run through.
